Don't worry, I would probably use Wracks the second most often of DE classes. Unless Incubi are regular classes, which I really doubt
So.... educate me on the Dark Eldar. I'm vaguely aware of them, and while they're still not my style, I find them infinitely more interesting than the Craftworlders from what little I know. Consider this a "yes" to the prompt: "Do you want to know more?"
I'd definitely end up going with the Wrack. I always thought the Haemonculi's creations had a lot of style.
They definitely face a lot of misunderstandings just based on their aesthetics. The wiki and especially Lexicanum are all good, but I will give a few basics. 1. They live in Commorragh, a city in the webway. The shape of Commorragh is best imagined like it is the web of a spider, since it spans many locations far from each other, connected mostly by portals. 2. Vect is the Supreme Overlord thy Himself 3. Thou shalt have no other Supreme Overlords before Him. (Moving on...) 4. Dark Eldar do not worship neither the gods of the Eldar (with the exception of Incubi who like Khaine and even have a nice big statue for him!) nor the Chaos Gods (with the exception of a few archons who were killed by Vect shortly after. Also vague hints of Arhra doing that but no clue what he is doing or is he even alive). Instead they have Dark Muses, who are actual Dark Eldar, all of them long dead, who they revere as pretty neat and badass people (this includes some folk like the lady who formed Llhamaeans and Saim-Hann's brother) 5. Their weaponry is quite different from Craftworld Eldar. Splinter rifles are most common. There are also some anti-matter or whatever freaky it was called, monofilament weapons, flaming acid-flamers, and some grenades (terrorfex sounds nice for a grenade, right?) 6. There is no antidote. You get shot by the rifle of a kabalite, know that there is nothing that can save you from whatever effects he was planning on you. 7. Commorragh is powered by solar power of several suns above it. Of course they don't shine, because they have been cradled with some weird machinery. Imagine if Commorragh was sunny... *shiver* Lets also not forget that you can get killed by solar power. All hail disintegrator cannons! 8. Never go into Aelindrach. 9. Actually, never go to the Null City either. Or that place under Port Carmine. Or the Sprawls. Or the river Khaides. 10. Realspace raids are events where a kabal (or a bunch of them) go to "realspace" (the universe, basically) and often hire help from cults (wyches join the party!) and/or covens (wracks, haemonculi and other... creepy stuff, join the party!) and go make some nightmares for Imperial Guard. Or Tau. Or anyone else.
Mngwa pretty much summed it up though, forgot to mention that Dark Eldar are immortal... Let me go into detail on that one as it's pretty juicy Dark Eldar lore. Provided that have a sustained that dark hunger they so crave which is souls from those poor victims that were tortured/murdered and anything else that means the death of a life form, they can never age. Thing is, the older the dark eldar gets, the more souls needed to sustain that ancient body as "She Who Thirst" is so very close to having that ones soul for herself. I'd like to add that the immortality the Dark Eldar have is not like the ones gods and divine beings have. They can still age and die if they haven't had there fill of souls. They can still die from lethal wounds/poison and gun shots. But there is a loop hole and that requires powerful connections with a Haemonculi. Say you were gunned down in combat, your comrade may take it upon himself to simply cut your now dead arm off and retreat back to Commorragh. There he we seek a Haemonculi and with payment or favour, the Haemonculi will rebuild your body ( this does require ALOT of souls ). This is all grey area as She Who Thirst may have claimed the soul for herself so sometimes the being that has been resurrected may not be the person you once knew. Maybe a deamon? Who knows! This is still a grey area like I said. As for the poll, tough choice but in the end I'd play as a Kabalite Warrior. Propably roleplay as a Trueborn or a Drakon
To clarify Nazara's very competent recounting, Slaanesh is very slowly devouring the souls of all living Dark Eldar. To replenish that lost energy, they have learned to consume the pain and anguish felt by other living beings. Hence the infamous Dark Eldar cruelty to captives.
