So I was browsing the old thread that was posted a while back about this issue, and most agreed that just giving the Orks a sniper rifle would be Un-Orky (since Orks generally don't aim or use weapons requiring good aiming.) So my question is what can be given to the Orks to help them out with this? One suggestion is to give them what amounts to a high-powered cannon/rocket launcher with a scope. Less accuracy and longer reloads with fast projectiles and fairly decent AoE explosions. (And the reason for not posting in the old thread is due to me not wanting to bring it back up or make the conversation confusing.)
On the tabletop Ork long range support comes in the form of Looted long range weaponry, Big Gunz, and if yer' reely zoggin' rich: a Snazzgun. In game it would probably come down to Snazzguns and Looted Weapons.
I think it would be the perfect job for grots. It would be pretty funny if the kick back of a sniper was to much for a grot and made him fly back a few feet especially if he was in a sniper tower.
Its basically high volume fire long ranged weapons, less accurate but almost as likely to hit something. Lootas will obviously be the long ranged support class.
I think Orkz will rely on Stormboyz more than the other faction when it comes to clearing out snipers. Orky guns (like everything orky) are plainly not built for long-range encounters, and I doubt even dedicated shootah boys would have enough patience for a rifle with such a slow rate of fire as your traditional longlas.
First photo is of US forces responding to a VietCong Sniper. Second photo is self explanatory. Against precision threats such as snipers, the properly Orky response is decidedly non-precise: just overwhelming the opponent with a truly deafening volume of fire. Let the other factions have sniper duels. The Green Tide will consume all with a Projectile Tide. My point is, the other races can get scopes as upgrades. Ork weapons should get second, third, fourth, etc... barrels added for even more dakka.
That's Beautiful man, It' Beautiful. you sir, have orked your way to the only answer that are both Gork and Mork approved.
