I voted chaos but i also have a space marine army and an imperial guard army, though im not too sure of the exact points of them all yet.
I'm not currently playing the game, I stopped sometime during 4th ed (but my group was still using 3rd ed rules). At the time all I had were hand-me-down Dark Eldar, since the one who bought the game was actually my brother and he kept the Space Marines. Now I'd like to get back to the hobby, but the HH rules seem much more interesting than the normal 40k, and I'm a little afraid that there's not as big a community. If I *did* play though, it would be Salamanders.
Here's what I have: ~3000 CSM Emperor's Children ~2000 Necrons ~2000 Tau (XV8s everywhere) ~1500 Imperial Guard (Blob Guard!) ~750 Sisters of Battle I don't really have too many people to play with but I love modeling and painting and I make each paint scheme different from army to army. I still have ~100-200 models left to paint though. There's a bit of a discussion as to whether or not 30k and 40k are compatible. 30k uses the points of 40k but the balance is focused more internally and certain units in 30k are much cheaper than their counter parts (additional Space Marines cost 4 or 5 points less per model after the first 10). That said, in 30k you lose ATSKNF as well as the ability to shove special and heavy weapons into your tactical squads. You lose flexibility but gain numbers. You also gain movement issues when trying to move 20 space marines around. I've heard that 30k does well against xenos but miserable against MEQs. Really, as long as you have people who are willing to play casually and aren't diehard tournament players, you'd be fine!
I got maybe around 3000 of orks 2000 of CSM and I kinda want to make a Black Templar army but a small one so I don't have to spend a lot. Too bad they got rid of the Emperor's Champion, he was a free HQ.
Emperor's Champion was never a valid Warlord in the original and still cost points (but didn't take up the HQ slot which was nice but negligible). He's still in the codex and is pretty good afaik.
Cool, I want him cuz cool sword and Black Templar fluffiness. I think they got rid of sword borthers squad but I'm sure a vanguard squad can be them.
Dark Angels - 25 Terminators, 200 marines and a couple of vehicles. Sisters of Battle - HQ Squad, 6 inf squads, 1 assault squad and a tank. Blood Angels - HQ, plus about 70 marines, and 4 vehicles. Looking at building a force around Capt Lokken from FW, and possibly getting a Irons Hands force for their Primarch Ferrus Manus -(Seriously this model is awesome, can't wait till they make the Lion!) Eventually want to collect and paint all the Primarchs. Maybe do a force for each of the Loyalist heroes.
