That Magnus at one point had troops that were separate of the multiple other warbands and there is no reason to think that 700 Thousand Sons (and probably an expanding number) would suddenly go up in smoke.

Neither have I claimed that 700 Thousand Sons (+) ever did go up in smoke.
All Sons bear Magnus's gene seed and are thus bound to him, those that aren't Psykers are etherealy preserved within their encased armours and act on command through their birth name, through the Rubric the non-Psyker brethren are beyond Tzeentch's reach. Where is the problem here?

  4. Galen Galen Arkhona Vanguard

Last time i checked only Amons warband retained the pre-heresy colors and marks everyone else seems to be blue and gold now .(this is from Ahriman the Exile book)

I'm forced to go SPOILERS on this one so that everyone on the forum will finally realise when the Thousand Sons changed their colours...

    - SPOILER BEGINS from novel - The Exile:
The Thousand Sons were using their Pre-Heresy colours and markings under Amon right up to the point until he was killed by Ahzek Ahriman who in the end killed him and claimed his armour.
And just then standing triumphant after he reassembled Amnon's armour onto his body while floating in midair Ahriman spoke the line I wrote in the previous post:

"Now there is only one way, and that way is forward."
Ahriman then raised his hands. Flames leapt from the floor. Red lacquer peeled off from every Rubricae and sorcerer. The tatters of paint spun in the flames. Polished silver armour plate reflected the fire for a long moment, shimmering like the surface of burning oil. Then the flames flickered blue and the silver armour became polished sapphire . Ahriman looked across the ranks of blue armour. Somewhere at the back of his mind, he heard a raven call. Slowly he knelt and bowed his head.
    - SPOILER ENDS

As we can see from the ending of the novel, Ahriman is the one who changed the Post-Heresy Thousand Sons colours into what GW is showing to us today.

  6. Did people really not know this? Sheeesh. I thought I was just a lukewarm Thousand Sons fan but apparently I am just a flaming Thousand Sons nerd.

Things I have to put with in order to separate rumour from fact concerning my favorite fallen heroic Legion :(,
some people would actually go bald fighting an endless battle or something. ;)

I'm an avid Space Wolf fan. So I would love for them to add the Tousand Sons so the epic hate can continue in game.

  9. Actually a really cool point, I was about to post 'it would be unfair to add one of the god-specific legions without adding all the others' but when they're there by virtue of their rivalry, that's actually a really neat part of the lore

  10. No World Eaters? But of that it'd be my Death Guard and Papa Nurgle.
