Game Started - Here First Off: This has nothing to do with history, nothing at all! Feudal Worlds exist in the Imperium of Mankind as self-sufficient planets that are often used for Astartes Recruits and tithes. The MOST advanced ones have black powder technology. It is safe to assume that the Imperial Navy has orbital station, etc. but the Feudal people don't know anything about it. Furthermore they still speak Gothic, they praise the Emperor as God (just like the Christians during the darker times; aka Holy Crusades), they still kill aliens when they appear, for all I know there could be even Feral Orks living with them! Read more HERE From Original Thread: Projects are going much better forward, therefor I return to GMing. But I feel like I must raise another new view on the Wh40k universe, so instead of the typical stuff.... Feudal World! No Astartes, no high-tech, only Game of Thrones feel! Politics, Intrigues, Demises, Houses, Relationships! Monoblades are the non-plus ultra and rare like Mythril in regular Fantasy settings (like LotR). Due to the quality of the RP I anticipate I will have no mercy with kicking people out if the quality is not high enough. Players will have meaningful positions ONLY and EVERYTHING can and WILL be determined by the players of how the narrative moves. Therefor I don't want crap players that have an attention span of 3 seconds and write in a way that one has to ask everytime da hell they meant. There is no plot-armor for anyone at any given point (NPCs included), and each NPC has a certain personality that you can use to your positive or can crush you if you ain't give a damn. And if a player suddenly turns around and rams a knife in your spine, well... Then you are dead. It's a dickhead move, but that is life for you. But I will retcon if it happens due to meta-gaming or no given reason at all (i.e. a General randomly stabbing his Lieutenant) Given that main inspirations are Game of Thrones, the Sengoku Jidai, The Romance of the Three Kingdoms and the Holy Crusades you can either live to the end as awesome hero, or die at the start and doom your entire house. Yet every player will get only 1 character at a time, if the character should die, then you can of course make a new char / take over a NPC. I do not expect lots of activity, but rather a well-thought through turn-based RP. Either this works and is going to be awesome, or it's going to suck horrible, lol. But I am telling you right away, you can stay in char and survive, but it doesn't mean either you have a guarantee of survival. And having slight shifts in decisions is no char breaking (especially if they are decisive). I.E. if you have a rather stubborn and mighty warrior it does not necessarily mean he would NEVER surrender, especially in a scenario where politics can save ones butt, the lord may call upon bonds, etc. Or simply let himself get taken hostage, rather than face death. And if you attempt with 1000 men to kill 10000 men in an open field battle, well don't expect to win, except you did something major strategic (like they are starved, you poisoned their water, they have no will to fight, you ambush them from behind, you attack in the night, they are all drunk, etc.) I won't point many things out, but rather give you information and you will have to act accordingly. Furthermore I will play the leader of our house, but you can gain certain positions where you can have better control of the house and you can convince him at certain times - depending on your actions, etc. throughout the RP. I.E. if you are a general and lost 3 battles in a row, don't expect to sway him. And of course he can die, then one of the chars may take over the house and lead us to glory! Now how does it all fit in Wh40k? Simple! The Lords of Terra desire to create a new Astartes chapter, their eyes rest on this Feudal World and the winning house shall be the sole ruler of the world and gets the honor to be the first Astartes of the new chapter. New Comments: - No Ships; everything will be land focused for better overview sake. Available UNLOCKABLE classes/roles: - Castellan (must be earned in RP; is the person who watches over our home-fort and manages our house to a big degree; lots honor!) - Supreme General (must be earned in RP; is the person who watches over all armies and general battlefield plans; also organizes standard level of talent & skill among soldiers + makes sure enough weapons & armors are there for armies) - Head Ambassador (must be earned in RP; is the person who keeps our friendships, trade engagements, etc. in check) - Sentinel / Heir (must be earned in RP; second in command of the house; if the Sentinel is a family member, the rank is 'Heir') - Master of Depot (must be earned in RP; head of all trading arrangements & makes sure wealth & supplies such as food are secured) Available classes/roles from start (you may suggest more, if they are any good): - Ambassador (usually for trade, wedding, alliance arrangements, etc.) - Scholar (knows a lot of history and other things such as weather prediction, good for war assisting and other things; like medicine!) - Lieutenant-General (head of an army) - Lieutenant (only available if a player claimed Lieutenant General; the Lieutenants serve Generals as leaders of a certain group of warriors; i.e. riders) - Quartermaster (Master of Encampments, organizes inventory of individual villages & camps) - Consort (Female Only; Trained in different arts such as making Tea, often attending meetings as servant and to 'distract' lords of other houses; may also be used for marriage arrangements between houses [especially if daughter to Lord]) - Saint (men or women that are recognized as especially holy, 100% pacifists, they are the mouthpiece of the God-Emperor and spread his beliefs; can help with settling riots peacefully, moralize armies, etc. ; basically chaplain just that this one doesn't fight) - Sage (men or women that are blessed with sorcery. Some see them as witches and evil, others see them as the God-Emperors most blessed disciples; Psykers) - Assassin (1 player at a time; have little to no respect from lords, given that their loyalty is often based on the amount of coin they get; can betray player house) Available Titles (titles give you special meaning, you don't need one but can have 1; these can be earned in-game, i.e. adoption to become a daughter/son of the lord): - Daughter/Son of Lord (child to the Lord; as players claim that will be the order of birth; i.e. who chooses this first will be the firstborn.) [First born age = 25-27; Second Born = 23-26; Youngest = 14-18] - Ser (openly recognized as honorable man, was declared Ser by the Lord after an amazing deed; can also be earned in-game) - Champion (1 per house; the most talented warrior of all; represents house in tournaments) - Squire/Consort of the Lord (only 1; Personal Assistant to the Lord. Squires are male. Consorts are female.) - Lady (only 1; Wife to the Lord.) More info of how the RP will work: Each role has obviously different strengths, etc. but this won't be resolved through math or rolls, except I feel like I cannot make a decision, then I may roll a 1d6 with even result (2,4,6) being positive for the players and odd result (1,3,5) being negative for the players outcome. This will be rare and only in extreme 50:50 cases, i.e. you pissed off the lord of another house extremely or embarrassed him in front of his whole population and next day you be like "Hey what about an alliance?" Furthermore, special information depending on your role may be given through PMs. And I will also maintain a general flow of actions on the RPs 1st post where you can access at anytime the current affiliations with other houses, etc. Also I won't do exact math on supplies, wealth, military strength and such but rather keep it narrative with 6 levels: None, Very Low, Low, Medium, High, Very High. You then can RP out with your given rank the exact numbers, or how ever you like. Because in the end that is your job And of course I won't punish if you don't take certain roles, like if nobody takes scholar. Then there will be a NPC for that role of course. Furthermore, your character choices alone will make a big foundation for the house, which is why I didn't write anything up yet! Also I will maintain players at multiple locations at once, this means a lot, if not even everything will be done at once and given that there is no technology such as vox, various things can go very wrong - or very right. And of course I will keep global events going, such as nightfall, etc. This can of course cause that certain players could end up waiting for others, on the other hand you can use those moments to socialize with NPCs as loyalty will be a huge deal here. A leader who interacts and seems to care little about his troops, could alienate them and drive them to the enemy or they could be less motivated to fight. If you choose a role, better make sure you are comfortable. And this thread is also here to find out more about a role and determine for yourself if it would be something for you. Once again: No history knowledge required, since this is WH40k, just without the technology.
Char Sheet Template (post here if you want to reserve a Role and/or Title; but PMs are fine if you don't care about reservations ): First Name: (can be basically anything, because Imperium; we got Germans under Dorn, we got Asians under Khan, etc.) Last Name: Lionheart (if from house family); anything else if not from house Gender: Male/Female Role/Class: see above Age: Should be at least 14, max. 41. The Lord is 61 years old; those that die outside of combat turn around 70. (despite lack of technology, general knowledge is high enough to store food properly and how to utilize herbs, etc. Also the first colonists were genetical enhanced to be immune against most common diseases that could kill one, etc. etc.) Also please note that you should not take age of 14 and choose Lieutenant-General; be reasonable. If it seems to extreme, I will comment! Title (optional): see above Gear (optional): One might assume this could be changed on almost daily base, except you have a usual attire or significant piece of armor or weapon, you may leave this blank. History (optional): You can decide to mention it already or leave it for in-game to be revealed. Basically put here how your character got the title and/or role of where s/he is now. Char Sheet First Name: Marshal Last Name: Glowstone Gender: Male Role/Class: Ambassador of Trade Age: 28 Title (optional): None Gear (optional): Fine Clothes, Ambassador's Medallion, Trader's Staff History (optional): As one of the Lords favored cousins, Marshal was able to attain the position of Ambassador of Trade. His love of travel, and desire to leave the swamplands of his family (as well as his position) have seen him able to travel the known world which has lead to a great many contacts. But for all of his friends he has almost the same number of enemies from deals that weren't entirely fair through some 'unintentional' trickery. As an Ambassador in service of the Lord he strives to further his own power, wealth and influence.
Hello again! I'm sorry I helped derail the last thread, hope you can find it in your heart to let me join regardless :> Right now not home but would lay claim to the Lady title unless somebody else wants it.
You already put the dips on it, all yours now! Also - no grudges. Funny enough I noticed in the other thread, the only thing that pointed toward Japan, was the thread title and the use of the Date title in the char creation, anywhere else - no mention of anything japanese whatsoever (except the ninja rank) NOTHING at all, lol. And yay! A trader!

First name: Samuel Last name: Heinrich Gender: Male Role/Class: Lieutenant general Age: 22 Title: none Gear: Full suit of iron chain mail, two handed zweihander, ornate iron lieutenant generals helmet, small steel dagger holstered on his belt. History: The Heinrichs were a powerful noble family with a proud military tradition although fate had not benefited them with a nation of their own its family members have often contributed to lionheart's army and is by far one of the nations older noble families. Owing to the Heinrichs status the sons the head of the household sends often end up as officers in the Lords army further strengthening the power of the house. lately however the family has been suffering from a crisis of heirs with far too few sons being born to inherit the family fortune and reputation and far too few to send to join the lionhearts ranks. Samuel Heinrich the son of the head of the household himself was one of the few that were sent to join the lionhearts army, young and inexperienced in the arts of both warfare and leadership he ended up in charge of his very own army owing to his fathers influence. Although well practiced in close combat and conditioning of his heavy armor Samuel is the victim of his families own latest misfortune as they struggle to provide enough new officers to satisfy their prestigious reputation. much weighs on the shoulders of this young lieutenant general and failure for him could bring great shame upon himself and his family who already suffers great duress in court due their sending of Samuel to command. OOC: phew, that really felt like blowing my own trumpet, darn powerful families stink of mary sue but what else could I do for a lieutenant general?
