As someone who likes to play chess ocasionally, I don't mind this. I actually like the idea of playing chess but using 40k units as the pieces, I'm sure many people have done that IRL already. I just hope there is a classic mode where there are no upgrades or anything similar, just classic chess.
Well, like I said in my original post, I doubt this has anything to do with Regicide other than the name. From the checkered pattern on the floor of the trailers I would say this will feature a regular square board, and the horse head that gets smashed hints at normal chess. Regicide is played in a round board supposedly, so it would have to be a distinctively different game. Maybe it could be an alternative game mode. As for unit translations: Space Marines King =Chapter Master Queen =Librarian Bishop =Assault Marine Knight =Biker Marine Tower =Terminator Pawn = Space Marine And if there were Eldar: King =Avatar or Autarch Queen =Farseer Bishop =Warpspider or Swooping Hawk Knight =Jetbike Guardian Tower =Wraithguard Pawn = Guardian or Dire Avenger
I'd swap your Bishops and Knights around. Bishops travel further, faster; Knights jump over shit. Seems to translate better that way around. (Though I get where you were coming from, considering the bikes are the futuristic equivalent of the horses)
Actually that makes sense =). Doesn't make much sense though that a Terminator could move across the board in a single turn, though. But then again, it doesn't make much sense for a tower either xD.
Man that model is bang on the money for me in terms of proportions. I hope Miguel and the guys at Behaviour take this as reference! Anyways, I just hope its a decent game. I got 40k Carnage, but that crashed on my phone and I haven't gotten it to work since launch :/
Well.... the trailer was cool at least. Definitely had a Terminator 2 vibe going on. I agree. So are the MP factions going to be SM, Orks, Eldar, and CSM; again? I really hope that at least one upcoming WH40K game would try and break that particular tradition. *Space Hulk not withstanding.
