First of all, I was looking at the sentence after that. Not an improper quote. Second, that doesn't help you. I'm saying that furry is by definition a sexual thing. You're saying it's not. Only 24% are in the furry community don't care about the sexual aspect, 38% were neutral, implying they were in it because of multiple reasons but not excluding the sexual aspect. And finally, still nearly 40% of people are in the community just because it's a fetish. You have done nothing to disprove my point. It's a fetish, get it outa my vidya gaemz. I never gave any importance as to where the "sexual" was coming from. That was simply how I knew where to start. I still don't care what people do sexually in their own homes.
"The survey specifically avoided adult-oriented websites to prevent bias.[12] Another survey found that 96.3% of male furry respondents reported viewing furry pornography, compared to 78.3% of female; males estimated 50.9% of all furry art they view is pornographic, compared to 30.7% female. Furries have a slight preference for pornographic furry artwork over non-pornographic artwork. 17.1% of males reported that when they viewed pornography it is exclusively or near-exclusively furry pornography, and only about 5% reported that pornography was the top factor which got them into the fandom.[44]"
Just because something isn't the top factor, doesn't make it a large one or one worth noticing. When someone dies it's because their brain activity stops, or their circuitry system isn't functioning. Does that mean that what caused the brain death or the cessation of circulatory system to be ignored because it's not the top factor? No. It's still a fetish. Also your own quote says male furries think that over half of all furry art they see is porn. How is this not a fetish? I don't understand. That other stuff is still relevant to people in a community doing things besides what the community was originally for. Just because it has non-sexual aspects doesn't make the community itself non-sexual.
The point isn't that there's no sex. The point has NEVER been that there's no sex. The point is that the sex is only PART of it, and there's a LOT more to it.
Find the percentage of people with sexual fetishes for 40k, find people with sexual fetishes for furries. Compare the 2 groups. It's probably going to be significantly lopsided on the furry side (though I have no stats for that, beside to my knowledge there isn't a dedicated site for 40k porn like the multiple furry porn websites). One group, is a feitsh (or at least a lot more fetishistic than the other) The other group, is not (or at least significantly less fetishistic than the other) You want to know why the 2 groups don't play nice? Because ones a fetish, and ones not. Everything the furry community does, other groups do. Crafts, role playing, conventions, and online communities are not exclusive to furries.
Show me that 40k is just as fetishistic as furries are. Or show me stats, studies or something from a reliable source that states that both porn and sexual aspects have nothing to do with considering one a member of the furry community.
I think that all you really have to do to "be" a furry is to like furry characters and then start calling yourself a furry. "Inclusion and belongingness are central themes in the furry fandom: compared to members of other fandoms such as anime or fantasy sport, furries are significantly more likely to identify with other members of their fan community. On average, half of a furry’s friends are also furry themselves.[72]:123–133 Furries rate themselves higher (compared to a comparison community sample of non-furries) on degree of global awareness (knowledge of the world and felt connection to others in the world), global citizenship identification (psychological connection with global citizens), and environmental sustainability.[72]:18"
