I recall these times... When apos had 10% reduced damage on all their main weapons because they were a support class... Ha.... They still wrecked booties when it came to slashing people's faces or shooting them in the teeth. Aaaaah, good times, good times... What the apo lacks in ranged support options, it has in weapon choice and health + damage mitigation with the correct Nartecium vial. Not sure if they are currently THIS strong compared to a Sorc or a Warlock. They have different options, that's for sure. About the Sorc and Warlock nerfs, I'm on the "mobility" side of the bat, so I have just as much ehp as these guys. But considering they were A LOT of them when it came to defending or attacking a point... what was the point of GA? I do want to see more playing on UAT to clean off these changes to have more data. But I generally welcome the changes.
The game is starting to not surprise or amaze. We have been to so much turnoil...that we just have to keep doing it....Adapt...adapt adapt. QQ at the end of the round, then adapt some more. We'll see what comes out of UAT. Just don't raise your expectations/hopes up
What we have: Healers that can Tank and dps and add utility (both Ranged and Melee) - jack of all trades, master of all Melee dps that used to be able to tank (now working as intended) Tanks that can Melee dps (still doing Melee dps job) Ranged dps that can Tank, Melee dps and pew pew What we should have: Healers need to be the best at Heal / Support / Utility Tanks need to be the best at Tanking Melee dps need to be the best at Melee dps Ranged dps needs to be the best at Pew Pew
I'v run into multiple teams that are literally nothing but Apocs and JPA's, over on Eldar and CSM we have a term for them even. 'White Scars'
But their swords cost 200LP on uat now. This I can agree with, its somewhat hefty cost for questionable gain, specifically charge regen wargear. If you mean destructor, then it was buffed slightly in damage.
As Brent said in the Twitch, there are classes that take other classes jobs. Especially Sorc and Warlock were taking Banshee/GA Jobs quite handily. Not the AV, but the "Be Melee" Job. Fast Powerweapon Melee, aká powersword with the ability to heal yourself is quite awesome. It was not only once that i got the Preserver together with the Crusader Recommendation together as Warlock or Sorcerer. And that's why so many people take them over GA's. I for my part can't wait for the nerf to happen. Im sick of all the Wannabe Sorcs that give a sh!t about healing their teammates, but rush head-first into the melee brawl. As long as i am still able to defend myself, or occasionally a patient that i try to heal, im allright with Supports getting nerfed in their offensive capabilities and survival skills. But give us more tools to support. Not only Damage-spell and Heal spells, but actuall buffs and such. Edit: Words from someone who mains sorc by the way
That's not an issue on UAT any longer. Both warlocks and sorcs suck at melee, unless specifically build for, foregoing all support capabilities but the basic heal and even then, they're still much inferior to GAs. Well, yesterdays playtest shown that eldar adapted quickly to new warlock role, while CSM stuggled with new sorc hard.
Support classes in general have been too strong at things other than support for too long. This nerf was long overdue. A support character should not be on an equal footing in combat with dedicated combat classes. Bolter apos shouldn't rival tacs Sorcerer shouldn't rival GAs Warlock shouldn't rival banshees You could solve the problem by making the tac, GA and banshee better but they're actually ok so the more sensible solution is to nerf support classes and make them focus on support over direct combat. In answer to the OP, definitely not surprised and perfectly happy with a nerf.
Actually, with current balance, warlock still trumps over banshee, they survive just as much, but warlock can heal and debuff better. But then again, banshee is trash tier class on UAT atm, even painboy is stronger with more utility..
