Except that changed in lore to them being secretly mind controlling, greedy, manipulative, and out to conquer the rest of the galaxy if the can. Good ol lore changes. Cant just have any "good" factions can we? Heck even most of the "heros" are varying shades of grey. Its like if any no shit pure good characters existed AND got stories the entire 40k universe would imploud! I think Ciaphis Cain is closest I've seen to a pure "good" guy in recent stories and he sure didnt start out pure good. He also no longer gets stories writen about him despite them being some of the most interesting 40k books I've ever read.
I don't know about a nerf, I do think Orks need to be completely reworked. I've played with DLB plenty of times and heard their thoughts on Orks and LSM, as well as my own guildies thoughts on them. Like for instance, I am not huge on the lore but I don't really understand the disparity between the fist and the claw from a game play perspective. 100% though the issue with LSM is Player Ability vs. LSM Population...which makes for some hair pulling match experiences...
There lies the problem though. Marines stay even DESPITE their players being awful, which implies they're so overtuned that no matter how bad you are, you'll still perform ok. The race is a crutch and until it's brought down to ork levels or orks are brought up to LSM levels, marines pubs will never learn to play the game because they're never put into even situations, nevermind disadvantageous ones. Marine pubs coast through games, never having to improve or think critically because they can zerg rush everything since 90% of marine games are 2v1 in their favor. Its no wonder most of the player base is considered bad.
I would at least give me and some of the other veteran players credit. LSM is even because there are large guilds of players that still war party pretty regularly and win. There have also been plenty of times when the World Map showed us way under other factions. If anything the large unskilled portion of the LSM factions is probably what is holding LSM down. And I have had plenty of matches where I have carried as hard as I can and we still lose.
You know i think its an interesting situation, how much do you boyz think the LSM player count would drop if they were actually put on even balance lvl with everyone? im half tempted to say the reason they get plot armor is because theyd lose players if they forced them to accept EC isnt COD.
People stay playing marines because people like playing marines, they are the most popular faction and a lot the newbies buy this game exclusively to play them. Even at launch when lsm were pretty UP people stayed cause they wanted to play as their favourite race. In this game lsm will alway be the most popular as long as new players are entering the game.
I had to explain to people that some weapons have more than 1 fire modes and how to change to it. This game needs a tutorial with voice overs because most people won't read tooltips and will screen op or just give up and leave if it's not all spelled out to them in simple English yes most people are lazy
Then they deserve nothing. If people are too lazy or ignorant to read, that's their own fault, and the developers shouldn't do anything to promote such behavior.
Especeally when almost all the LSM go melee. (I've seen games with 0 tacticals.) I don't remember which SM it was I would be tempted to say LSM, I've yet to see a CSM group that avoids the AC or Abbadon's Grace. Sure, they wipe us off the point until half the defenders go melee entirely so the ranged people can kill them while they're busy. I've also had games where defending a point solo, I've been firing rokkits at them and they've had tunnel vision so bad they've not noticed i was shooting rokkits, therefor not checked out the point before capping and got a suprise rokkit when they tried to cap. Eldar check if the cap points covered before doing so. So do Orks. And sure, while Clans will, feral Orks and Eldar tend to do it too. LSM/CSM ones don't.
