There ya go - from the Lexicanum link: "...it is used by Space Marines as either a precision battle rifle or sniper weapon." EC uses the former, Space Marine uses the latter. Also, I like the idea of the PC needing to cool after one charged shot. And I agree about the turrets - I don't know the answer, but the combination of them annihilating infantry and respawning so frequently is no good.
Las cannon sniping is hard to pull off consistently or effectively, its useful however to keep the enemy suppressed and moving, so for a cluster of enemy just keep moving the beam between them to break their own chain of fire. Till one moves into medium range and just kills you anyway. Its fairly easy to kill a lascannon player, and i'd take any other heavy weapon vs infantry personally, literally any other weapon not just heavy weapons.
@Torrential In all fairness, you should be using the Heavy Bolter to Suppress enemies with. I mean, that's what it does anyway On the same subject, is it me, or do charged Plasma shots not get affected by the Suppression effect? I feel like they're still fairly accurate even when you're being supressed
GW are the ones who told BHVR that Astartes dont block or parry with their melee weapons so that's why blocking and parrying with melee weapons(weapons, not shields) were supposedly done away with as far as melee mechanics in Eternal Crusade. Anyone that's ever read a 40K or Horus Heresy novel knows full well Astartes do indeed block and parry with melee weapons. GW apparently aren't that familiar with their own universe so I wouldn't expect what they say to be consistent with the "known" universe that is 40K.
If you're wearing thick plated power armour, would you bother parrying when you can just block with your shoulder pad? Sadly, I think it was changed to better suit the games mechanics, rather than being lore friendly
No comment on Nerfle I'd just get pissed. Charged Plasme isn't as bad, the Plasma Guns insane RoF though.... Las-Sniping, quite frankly whoever gets sniped with a Lascannon deserves it. Agreed, too many nades. Nope, the Plasma Gun even needs an RoF nerf. Agreed, accuracy when moving needs to be reduced and when hip-firing even more, damage while scoped needs to be increased by a lot. Agreed, also remove the backstabbing. On a sidenote GW has way too much to say in this.
You sure charged Plasma isn't that bad? You can't seem to walk round a corner without 3 different charged shots flying in your direction. Though I disagree with removing "backstabbing" (i.e. increased damage when taking melee in the back), because who's fault is it for not watching your back or being flanked? Certainly not the guy who just finished beating your sorry unaware ass into the floor
Well it's an issue but there's not really a way to fix it and I personally find the RoF of the gun much more annoying. It doesn't make sense though at all. And in a big melee rumble where everyone is all over the place it's not the downs players fault either. He hasn't really been unaware.
Makes perfect sense to me. Where else would someone's weak point be? Besides, I think that's one of those "working as intended" things
I've never heard powerarmour is so much weaker on the back. I don't think it makes sense and while it probably is working as intended I still think its stupid. But that's opinions.
