I'd be happy to bet Orkz and Eldar won't even be in for the Founders' Test Modules. Can't have the SM fans cry hot tears because their boys don't get enough poster time.

I guess they really want to do the Orks propa, before showing them to us...

Why Not, Orks vs Eldar vs Loyals vs Traitors :O

  5. I have an idea: Orks vs Eldar, and during the middle of the match a staged Tyranid attack happens, making it a massive three way battle.

It shows off all the unseen factions and creates hype at the same time.

Perhaps they're waiting until closed beta to invite a load of Ork players so they can set the stage for an all out WAAAGH! to truly show off the Orkz?

Especially since they were boasting about 500 Orks running down that hill in the stream.

Died closed beta is around September 2015 that's waaaaaaay to long to wait for orks I'm hoping maybe mid September and the devs said in one of the live streams that they'd show off orks and eldar before winter ( they said at the end of summer but here we are )

  10. They did, they showed us a couple of prototype models; They didn't lie, but they obviously didn't show what you were hoping for. What we are seeing is likely the tip of the iceberg, or (the more likely case) is that other than the testbed their using to test their netcode (because that's pretty much exactly what they have been showing us on livestreams, the prototype for the netcode, which they seem to have been 'testing' for over a year now while adding buildings and testing each individual addition one by one) and much of the models, artwork etc seems to currently be in the process of production in the background. I doubt we will start to see what the game will become for at least a couple of months.

The only thing I've seen a lot of lately in streams is more and more buildings and props and a considerable amount of time spent on the day/night cycle and those suns.

The only reason I'm not concerned is because the game won't be in beta till late next year (they think).

Them announcing the game within a month of them deciding to make it was for the most part rather unique, but then again other developers have before. But in the case of other developers, they say "we are making a game" then you hear nothing more about it for a couple of years, then suddenly trailers and beta invites. Well they showed us what happens in the interim, but it seems they only show us stuff their team is ok with showing us.

My skepticism has risen in the past couple of months, alarm bells are on 'standby'. But being a developer myself, I am acutely aware of the design process of making games. So I give them the benefit of the doubt in that regard; Though from a standpoint of a gamer who has no clue how games are made or understands the creative process because it's not their field of specialty or their talent lies elsewhere; I can understand how from their standpoint they feel frustration and suspicion.

Which is exactly the reason why developers tended to in the past (and still do) not be "transparent" or open up their entire creative process to public scrutiny. For example, much of the shiny awesome graphics technology we have today are in fact not implemented till just before alpha stage in most development cycles for games where the development focus is on gameplay, rather than graphics.

Most games before they reach "all features in, even if all content isn't finished yet" stage. You pretty much have "the base game" and everyone are off doing their assigned tasks, writing code; creating art, composing sounds, etc etc. When each group comes up with a 'mock build' they send it to get implemented for testing (often using file storage and updating software such as Perforce) while they continue to work on the finished version. Once they have the finish version to be implemented and it's been approved by their department lead as ready, it is then sent off for final integration. Each stage of editing of the game tends to get tested usually out of principle to identify bugs or problems early so they can then be listed as issues they need to either deal with immediately or at a later time.

Pretty sure gameplay balance isn't at the forefront of their tests right now; Pretty sure their tests are more to do with collision interactions, testing buildings and base layouts. Not sure why, but meh I guess it's something worth testing...

    All being assumptions of course.

No offense to Miguel, but he needs to keep his "vision" in check; Vision shouldn't interfere with the design process. At least he keeps it to interactions with the fan base (according to what I'm aware of). Excitement, ideas and imagination is one thing; Practicality is quiet another...
