Orks have speshul shoota LSM/CSM have Astartes assault shotguns Eldar don't have a shotgun type weapon but they do have close range ranged weapons.. That's the main issue with the ranged loadouts they don't have any defense for close quarters outside of the knife/pistol combo giving them the option of sacrificing range for close range defense would allow them to actually function vs melee.
Shotguns wouldn't be a defense against melee, it would wipe them off the map. Most games have made Shotgun weapon headshots pretty much an instakill. I don't see how could balance shotgun damage WITHOUT making it hit like a truck in short range since you know..that's all they can do is short range. They also said no to shotguns many times on this game.
I know they have and it's dumb as hell tbh. It's not as hard as you think to balance a shotgun in a game like this just don't allow headshot damage and make it hit hard but not hard enough to 1 shot something like 175 damage with 8 pellets... each pellet would be roughly 22 damage it would be super effective short range while being meh medium/long range and tack on a interupt effect so they can still move/dodge/start another attack it just interupts the attack.
In lore and other games yes in EC nope. I wish that was the case. Anyway I'm off here for now going to get shit done today.
They could make shotguns high damage but low penetratiom (say 60) so that straight health/armour builds are vulnerable but high toughness builds are resistant (a reverse of plasma/power weapons). Add a new meta element. Also what's wrong with the stormbolter? Is that not working out close range?
Shotguns would be nice but I'd settle for them making our current assault weapons (stormbolter, plasma gun) worth a dam! Instead they've gimped them because they gave tacticals a chance against a melee opponent
Well..Orks do have the One Shot Slugga pistol. I think it's 320 damage for a headshot, 160 for a body shot(on garrison dummy). One and done though haha. 3 second reload. I have it on my Vet right now for giggles, it's kind of satisfying getting a kill with it. I wish it had a more impressive gun noise though.
