We need a Field of View slider.

    Ofc I'm not denying, that was (atleast my point) on a higher fov. More situational awarness for everybody, some classes more then others if you want, but atleast some more:eek:
    The "slider idea" is just for some people who need a adjustment to their favourite setting.

    Mmo's allmost all got them. Didn't play alot mp3rd persons last 2 years.

    You saying
    and at the same time suggesting to increace vFoV for saving your diagonal. It's a bit strange.

    For saving both width to not giving anyone advantage and yours eyes there are two ways. First on your screenshot is cutted version of 16:9 where you lose vertical.
    Another one playing with 1920x1080 resolution at 1:1 scale and black rectangles.

    What you are asking to enjoy playing force others to change FoV to balance the odds and makes their eyes suffer. Besides 16:9 more popular format.

    You seem to have attributed a suggestion to me that wasn't mine, my only suggestion was that something that can impact play-ability for many shouldn't be missing

    Field of view doesn't care about resolution either, its the degrees of vision. Higher value gives a wider view however above a certain point you cant see dead in front and gets a blur towards top middle, conversely a lower value gives a thinner view but tends to be more focused. Typically console games use a FoV of 60ish and PC games use 80-90 as the distance the viewer is to the screen affects what is comfortable.

    By having it be a typical slider option it covers more than one type of person. Ideal settings would separate both horizontal FoV and vertical FoV for greatest control of elements that could cause irritation to players. This doesn't change the baseline development design scale and the default setting would remain the equivalent of what it is now. Meaning no one is losing from this situation unless having to tweak a setting because its not ideal for you is enough to be losing.

    Sorry i missed that anyway eyes health issue presents in OP post too.

    I know what fov is and dont really understand why did you write these explanations.
    The issue is in locked horizontal FoV by devs for balance. What happens at OP situation I tried to draw

    To reduce the discomfort cut vertical for scaling screen to normal fit the image without distortion.
    Or playing like this in 16:9 ratio

    Red Faction Guerilla has one. I got sick when playing it at standard (Its on 45 standard, IIRC), so had to move it to something closer to 60. I could play without any worries after that.

    EC's havoc camera is a bit too close to the character in my opinion, to be honest.

  9. Star Wars Battlefront has a fov slider from I think 50 up to 90. Works fantastically well. I can see how you don't want that much in this game for stated reasons, but no fov slider at all is just retarded.

    Doctor Orpheus, you would most likely NOT play on the widest setting if said setting is over let's say 90. Your aim takes a huge hit since everything becomes smaller.

    And then there's the epic headscratcher of higher fov for melee... Giving that fov to all weapons would go a long long way

    I also get motion sick playing this game because of the tiny fov. It would kind of suck to have to stop playing a great game because devs are too narrow minded to understand there needs to be a fov slider.

    I'm willing to bet a nut that they will lose more players from no fov slider than keeping the current system, regardless of balance issues. Adding it is better for EVERYONE in the long run. It doesn't make you faster, or hit better, or more skilled.
