We Must Plan Our Deployments Ahead.

What is our primary threat:

  1. The foul, and brustish Orks

I agree with the poll that the Forces of Chaos are our primary concern. The Orks do not have the WILL and the Eldar not the STRENGTH to threaten us on Arkhona. But the Traitors, while fewer in numbers, have both the strength AND will to do so; presenting the closest match to our might.

    The plan is thus:

The Greenskins Will likely have numbers that rival our own and War Bosses who know how to wage a Waaagh. However the Orks are an unruly lot and even if one is strong in mind and body it will come to naught if the body does not listen. Ultimately they are unlikely to be a threat unless provoked and any territory lost to them can be quickly retaken.

The Eldar are few in number, meaning that their individual skill will likely surpass that of our brothers in battle, but their forces will also be spread thin across their territory. We will take advantage of this by pushing back the Eldar forces since, all other things being equal, numbers will win out over skill.
This push will continue until the reduced size of their territory results in their forces being more concentrated at each point of contention. At that point we will lose our numbers advantage and any further battles will be in their favor due to the skill gap.
However as soon as they go on the offensive we will once again have a numbers advantage, and even should they force us back the increase in territory will stretch their forces out once more, allowing us to easily reclaim any lost ground.

Having thus ensured an easy land grab and stable borders we can then refocus our attentions on the biggest threat we face: The Traitor Legions.
Having stabilized our own borders, we can count on the enigmatic Eldar and barbaric Orks to lash out in desperation at the Chaos forces, and once they are distracted by the xenos we will be ready to press a decisive attack deep into their territory, using the advantage gained from the conquered Eldar territory, ultimately crushing them beneath our heel before the Tyranids can react to our movements.

This plan of mine relies on:
    1) Territory being divided evenly among the factions at launch,
    2) that the 'Nids will not go on a rampage before a sizeable land grab occurs,
    3) that our Space Marines will be more disciplined than (the) Orks, and
    4) that early aggression from the other factions is limited to unorganized border skirmishes.

Other problems I foresee include the uninitiated being demoralized by having to fight the "pwetty sphess elfes"; which can be solved by an awareness campaign, with balloons and free cookies, in which we tell them why the witch must burn.

My second fear is that we will run out of steam during the attack on Chaos due to the leadership wasting valuable resources on earlier, easier battles in the name of "fun" (HERESY! HERESY I SAY!!).

The reason I do not want to focus on Chaos immediately is that since our strength is nearly equal we would just end up grinding up against each other in a battle of attrition, allowing the xenos to roam free and take advantage. Better to go for a few easy victories and then turn the spoils to an advantage over the real threat.

Unruly eh? You know what we do to unruly boyz? We kill them, or atleast give them a proper beating!

You guys do realize that orks are actually going to be played by real people, not npcs, right?

We could all just say "Screw the lore, let's work together to mop up these runts".

We, as human beings have the right to make our own choices. We are not obliged to play strictly to the lore.

So yes, we do have the will to threaten you. We have the will, and we have a way...

Damn, if only I was not an ork fan, this would make an awesome reply from a Chaos Space Marine.

The foolish orks are not threat to the might of the space marines, we MUST eliminate all of the fallen space marines and purge all of their heresy so we may be made pure ones more.

Agreed, lets all unite, Eldar, Space Marines, Chaos, Orcs, Tyrannids, umm... any upcoming factions, against the true threat, the greedy Rogue Traders...
