Warlock vs Banshee in melee

I think with the Warlock (and indeed the other support classes) that it should be a viable playstyle for them to be effective in melee, but that in order to be so, they should take a serious hit to their support abilities. Right now, they can only really tweak around the edges, where they should be slightly less powerful as standard in both areas, with the ability to specialise more in order to be a fully effective melee fighter or a fully effective support, rather than this washy balance of the two.

The problem with that is that's exactly what it doesn't do in TT or lore. It would be better if it did a smaller amount of damage and low penetration, but bypassed armour entirely and dealt damage directly to the health of the target. Higher toughness would still reduce its damage, but stacking armour would do nothing. This is the closest to how the Witchblade works in TT.

perhaps im a bit off base with this claim but the warlock seems to one shot me from behind where a banshee might need 2 hits, (a heavy and a light attack) from behind
  3. The change I would like to see on locks is more pen on the Witchblade to represent the ease of hurting a target but maybe cut the damage they do by half. As it stands a Witchblade is no different from a Power Sword in damage or pen and it comes down to a play style preference, where most of the time the lock outshines the Banshee due to the heals they can cast. Banshees are better at the hit and run style Eldar are known for. What do you guys think?

This is sort of similar to pretty much how all support classes in the game work at the moment barring the painboy. For LSM the apothecary is just an improved tactical, that trades capping for better utility, while for CSM the sorcerer is a ground assault with more tricks and limitless healing. The only downside for these two trades is the lack of capping, but it only takes one person to start a cap so its not too big of a deal. For the banshee vs warlock this is even more obvious since you trade mobility for mind bullets and limitless healing by taking the warlock and you don't even lose out on the ability to cap since neither could do it initially. I agree that support classes should be combatants as it fits with the whole grimdark thing, but with how the game is at the moment supports basically act as upgrades to certain base classes, since there is little to differentiate them since most wargear has a fairly low impact on the game as a whole.

Almost every eldar 1 shots my nurgle ga with 160 armor, 215 hp and 155 toughness from behind. But my chainsword with pen takes 1 heavy and at least 2 lights from behind on even dark reapers. Vs warlocks banshees and da it's more like 2 heavys and a light.
  6. That is a clear exaggeration because the whole "1 Heavy 2 Lights" combo happens to almost EVERY non-Eldar I ever attack from behind and I use a Master Crafted Power Sword with the Penetration mod,

Only explanation as to why you get one-shotted from behind is either because it was a Striking Scorpion or you were damaged and didn't notice it.

I think the issue is that the Banshee scream isn't really used enough for it to be an advantage over the Warlock. I think an overhaul of the scream should be made so that it can be cast instantly without delay and on the move much like a Warlock heal. Warlocks do not need a nerf moreso than Sorcerors since both are casters with powersword equivalents.
  8. I think what need to be change:
    - The Warlock: (dont need to change how it is now)
    - the witchblade damage should scale with the user actual power score
(yep, its a serious melee weapon, not in EC tho)
    - Destructor power: 300Lp for this is to much, ether give them more damage or just toss it out and give the
Warlock psionic blast that goes trought armour and damage directly to hp. (until than, better change the point
you have for a fusion pistol 250 Lp than destructor )

    - Howling Banshee:
Need a faster dogde and a stun scream(i am sure every one aware of the jump pack units ability to jump out from any melee hit like an ultimate dodge even when they are hitted from the back than just stun you with there aoe fall down, for the compartion to every other race)
I would be better off with faster attack speed, but that never going to happen, even this 5%(?) running speed is hardly gaved by the devs(maybe they hate us? :) )

I see more Warlocks sporting Embolden then Banshees and Scorpions combined when i play my Warlock, so yeah theres definitely something wrong.

I play LSM and don't see many banshee use their scream (maybe it doesn't help a lot in battle but you got it and you must use it often because i can't see nothing after the scream for sometimes...). Sometimes eldar oneshot me in melee but is from behind or i take some damage before (lag don't help in these case...). For the rest i think your melee is ok, maybe banshee must be a little more agile. Remember your race in this game trade everything (armour, hp, penetration, ecc) for mobility. Remember that power sword is for cut and go trought armour, chainsword is for pure damage on soft target. Sorry, but i love onekill eldar with a strong assault with my chainsword of fury + adrenaline vial bonus (i play sanguinary priest so i have tons of vial!)
