So before THQ went bust, separate from Relic and all that, back in late 2012, Sega made a deal with GW for right to Warhammer Fantasy. Relic had WH40k, not Fantasy. Sega announced that Creative Assembly, the team that does the well-regarded Total War games, would be doing the fantasy game.

Then, THQ went bankrupt and Sega bought Relic. Theoretically, whoever was left from the Dawn of War series would go there, and we could have Total War and Dawn of War people working on the Warhammer Fantasy game. It is supposed to come out in 2014, will probably be PC only, and will probably kick a--.

As often happens, licenses are not generally transferable. So, even if THQ/Relic had the rights to WH40k, Relic being bought up by Sega and THQ going bust apparently did not mean Sega automatically got the rights to do any WH40k games. That could have been cool, it was something that could have happened, but the latest reports were that it didn't. Maybe it will eventually. That might or might not be good for EC, since Sega is focusing on Warhammer Fantasy now, the 40k game would've probably been hitting in 2015.
  9. Aye, Sega got a hold of Relic, which basically gave them all the rights to every Warhammer 40,000 game.
