Wargear, Vehicles, Leveling Up And Maybe Prestiging??

Hey dev guys and fellow 40k fans.

my screen name is garlicavenger and im an australian DOW, DOW2, space marine and tabletop gamer with an affinity for all things space wolf. having a spacemarine customizer with unlocked/aquired armor parts would be amazing. like chapter specific. the wolves need more runes/bones/pelts hanging off them.

i was wondering if in Eternal Crusade there would be classes and customizable wargear inside those classes? i think it would be great if you could, like space marine have a few standard classes. but once you maxed out your level, it took something away from the game. Progression.
what if you could prestige like in COD, but instead of resetting your unlocks, and not really doing much, prestiging could be the way to aquire terminator honours. like moving up through the ranks of your chapter. space wolve would start as a blood claw, go to grey hunter then to wolf guard. and when you have proven yourself worthy, prestige to a terminator. and all the while either specializing in melee or range with your wargear equips.

another prestige level above terminator could be the option to go to battle as a dreadnought, then venerable dreadnought. i dont know if the game would support this, but having three levels of prestige with different custom parts/skins/wargear would be amazing. like crossing spacemarine with DOW2.

    lastly Vehicles.
40k has so many epic vehicles to drive around in. a land raider would be equivalent to laying waste in halo with the scorpion. or more then that scale up to aircraft and titans? the epicness of a warhound titan wouls definetly be a play for game of the year. instead of attack bikes for the space wolves, how about thunderwolf calvalry? predators, whirlwinds etc. like battlefield 40K.

anyway if any of this would make it into the game it would be great, but all of it would definitely make this game of the year i think.

    replys welcome, keep it clean.

  2. Moved this over to Brent and Michael, since this is about Game Design rather than technical :)

  3. I like most of the suggestions, Especially about wargear and vehicles dynamically improving as you use them and gain experience.

The one thing that really fucking irks me is Prestige. It's a terrible system in CoD and I'd really rather not see it after the affect it had in that community...Christ.

  4. I think the important part here to note is that we won't stop updating the game and it's content, and therefore what can be unlocked and gained with your character. The prestige system sounds just like a cheap peace of extra effort for bragging rights, which there is a lot of ways to do that. I am not sure of all the plans we have, but there is plenty to keep you busy for a long time :)
  5. I am curious as to wether the more a player uses a particular vehicle, the better it gets. I am also curious as to how the walkers would function in relation to the tanks, and land raiders out there.

Part of me would really like to see things like Dreadnoughts and Wraithlords be treated as a class, but I know that balancing would be a huge pain. A "hero" classification might work, but would that limit the walkers to only the best players in a particular instance? If I am in a game and someone has the walker 'hero' does that mean that I can never become a walker myself, unless I leave that game?

  6. As long as you don't do the CoD/WoW route of iLevel or Prestige I'll be pretty happy with whatever you do.

When you say "continue to update".. how long do you expect/guess it will be before the updates are stopped? If atall?

I guess what I mean is, is this game going to be "the one" for you guys?
like eve has lasted many years and continues to provide updates to all aspects of the game such as graphical imprivments as well as just content. Will this be the case with this game?

Or will you develop content for this game untill its not selling anymore (cuz theres no subscription income and micro transaction only goes so far)

If the game proven to be popular in X years will there be a Eternal Crusade sequel? (Eternal is forever? So there can't be a second? Lolwut?!)

Thanks in advance for answering these very speculative questions. :D
    Edit:
I say "just content" not in a negative way, content is awsome!
  9. well - I would say, the more players - the longer the game will live. We won't stop updating as long the game can finance the updates and running the servers ;)
