"Hey, 'least it's half-and-half ork with me," answered Andy, and left it at that. The boy sure was a sniper.
@EvicusDasan1 "Are you done hating me for something I couldn't do anything about?" Saven replied to the xenophobic Guardsman. Frankly she should have expected this, but she was hopeful that some of the other group members would be not as xenophobic as the Vostrayn. At least the sniper duo had stopped their banter with her.
Seeing the two bickering about an Ork or something,Felix doozed out, focusing more on the growing darkness in the forest, avoiding the frustrating canopy. The last thing he wants to happen is to trip over some root or other.Guarding the rear of the squad, making swooping motions with his Lasgun,Felix could overhear the growing yarning about his now new squadmates. From time to time he glanced backwards, looking at the squad. For a moment he could see the outline of a very familiar flamer in one of mates`s hands. As a matter of fact it was a woman and she seemed relieved that the sniper folk stopped talking. Talking was a bad idea...especially now.Eldar-stragglers could be anywhere and whatever was making that blunt, background sound, didnt seem friendly either.Vox-crackled and Sergeant Alton hollered another round of orders. Felix stepped up in the wake of the squad, cutting one of the thorny branches that grabbed his tunic with a swing of his Lasgun (bayonet).Coming up next to the woman he started walking next to her, pairing up as the Sergeant commanded.Introductions were probably in order but considering they all could be dead in a few moments,it made all bonding superficial and unnecessary.Almost three decades of experience stood as a warning. With a sideglance at his "partner",it seems she indeed carried that Flamer that he discarded and her skin tone was deathly pale. Voidborn.Small chances of survival down on the ground. With his gloved finger in ear he voxed: "Felix reporting."
As the idiocy turned down a bit with non-sense gender-banter, which is why Monty guessed Imperial Regiments were usually gender-split, he turned to the Sniper-almost-twins (@Kalle & @UnluckyFellow ). They must had been gene-brothers or something that they act like that, together. Even among the pirates he didn't see that close of a bond. "Vermont Rice, but call me Monty if you want to keep it short. Got a fancier name than I wished for." The former Elysian light, not drop, trooper approached them and offered his hand to one after the other. There would be more benefit gained from knowing your comrades than lost.
Andy let his hand shoot forwards as if shot from his sniper, grinning at the Elysian. "Andreas Machiadyn, 1st Tarsis Redeemers. I answer to Andy, though, and this is my brother, Simmy," he said, with a point of his finger at the other Tarsisian.
Sgt. Alton started smiling at the nicer and more to the point banter. Though so far only Felix is listening to orders or has discipline it seems. He nodded at Felix pairing off and moved himself to pair off with either the old man or monty, since both seem to have good heads on their shoulders so far. He was intermingling as much do to the weight of command but he wasnt unfriendly either. He believed in being approachable. " Alton is the name. Former 74th Mjior. " He didnt bother with the Skitarii part, they could figure that out themselves.
Considering the fact that Andy and Simmy were practically joined at the hip, it was safe to assume that they'd subconsciously followed the sarge's order and paired up.
Noticing that one of the Guardsmen in the improvised grouping had partnered up with her, Saven stuck closely to the man as she voxed in to the sergeant with "Saven, reporting" in order to carry out that part of the sergeant's orders. She did recognise her partner as the man who had nabbed the Flamer she coveted earlier during the battle with the Eldar, but decided not to hold that against him, given that he did some good work with the weapon. Overhearing that Monty had started to get the ball rolling with the introductions for the entire group, she said to Monty "Seeing that you're getting to know everyone in this motley squad, I'm Saven Firlaeth, but most people just call me Saven."
"Graf Sebastev... 33rd Guardians of Vostroya." The closed helmeted soldier nodded to each of the other squad members save for the alien. His thick accent was apparent but he was perfectly understandable, even through the distortion of his voice due to his re-breather. Clicking to the correct vox channel Sebastev answered the apparent roll call. " Awaiting orders sir." With that he resumed to looking over each soldier, the one he figured he would get along with most was Vermont, but he would have to see his devotion and steadfastness in the face of adversity to respect him, or anyone for that matter.
@UnluckyFellow @Uriel1339 @EvicusDasan1 @Kalle @Maleth @Illfetus @High_Adept_Zeth @TechCaptain ~ With the sound of the moaning getting louder the Commissar urged the group forwards, signalling to keep quiet as they started approaching the edge of the forest towards next field. beyond the trees and the haze the group could catch glimpses of what lay beyond, the crashed object was huge easily towering over the forest the group was still trudging through and it gave off an ominous feeling that seemed to permeate the air around it. The group eventually approached the clearing where the fallen object had landed or rather what was left of the clearing, up ahead the haze had cleared enough to reveal that the fallen object was in fact a huge cylinder half buried in the soil, its shape geometrically perfect did not appear to have suffered at all on its entry into the planet's atmosphere and the material it was made from seemed to have a dim green glow to it. An eerie silence suddenly filled the air as the moaning and the sound of metal stopped, the entire landscape surrounding the cylinder had been reduced to a smoking crater, with many of the still standing trees lining the edge of the forest being half buried under massive dunes of disturbed dirt, the group climbing over one of the mounds of displaced soil could see numerous other footprints leading up and over the top of the obstacle a telltale sign that a group of other people were already ahead of them. Once over the crest of the dune the group could see who it was that was ahead of them, a single Techpriest accompanied by an assortment of different Servitors carrying monitoring equipment seemed to be setting up close to where the Cylinder had landed. The Techpriest appeared to be going from servitor to servitor checking the condition of each piece of equipment before sending them forward towards the looming cylinder, he did not notice group as they emerged into the crater being apparently far more interested in the working order of his thralls. Under the Techpriest's watchful gaze one of the servitors lurched forwards towards the Cylinder emitting a low moan that could be heard throughout the area, the mechanisms of its metal feet clanking against itself when it walked on the compacted earth of the crater. It appeared to be carrying some form of pict-recorder with which it planned to use to record footage of the fallen object up close. The group stood on the edge of the crater watching as this scene unfolded, the Cylinder was giving emanating off an intense temperature which heated the air around it which got more intense as you got closer. the Techpriest and the rest of his servitors appeared to be standing on the brink of the danger zone where the heat would become detrimental to an non mechanically augmented human's health. Urging the squad onward again the Commissar started proceeding down into the crater itself and towards the Techpriest who was still not paying the squad any form of notice his attention being almost completely focused on the cylinder in front of him.
