War of the Worlds - RP thread (Imperial guard RP, H.G. Wells inspired)

  1. Sebastev looked over his squadmates as they moved to the crash site.... a few honest looking guardsmen, an old man who was most likely a tough bastard, and what looked like two men related to each other. Sebastev noticed one giving orders was one of those tech freaks who were not true servants of the emperor. "This could go poorly." He thought to himself, and not to mention a filthy half breed. Graf could just sense the feeling off superiority oozing of this abomination. "I wonder if it hesitated to kill its alien kin?"

Shaking his head he proceeded to march as the obedient soldier he usually was.

"Eyes sharp men. Somethings up ahead." Sgt. Alton was taking charge of this squad of irregulars as the Commissar is no field officer, just some political person who plays soldier. He eyed his soldiers, this impromptu squad. He didn't like the look of some but he was slightly reassured that they had the look of survivors at least. " I want everyone to pair up. This can go south quickly. And everyone vox check by the numbers boys and girls. I want good communications."

( Thank you for bearing with me - very hectic times behind me. )

Andy wrapped his arm around Simon's shoulders noiselessly. "Machiadyns all paired up!" he whispered back in response to the sergeant's order. Like his brother, the younger Machiadyn was a very calm individual. Nothing ever seemed to phase them, and mischief never seemed to be far away when they were around. For those who knew them, anyway. Most of the other Tarsisians had already been swallowed - whether they disappeared into other units or fell in battle, no one could tell or keep order.

As it were, Andy followed silently after the rest of his squadmates - the brothers were especially sneaky, owing in part to nature and in part to their sniper training - and he clutched his sniper rifle tightly to his chest. Its scope was not upgraded, and so, didn't do him many favors in the darkness.

Simon ribbed Andy lightly as his younger brother appeared. "Like I'd let you out of my sight to go chase after Eldar in the dark anyway." He whispered back. Thankfully he'd managed to come out of their bayonet charge unscathed save for his pride. That howling banshee as set him in an awful mood, making him look like a second rate marksman in front of his platoon. How were they supposed to have faith in the pair's abilities if he couldn't hit a blasted wraith snake at 200 meters?

As they walked along, his eyes constantly scanned what little into the now full darkness that they could actually see. The hair was standing up on the back of his neck. "Say Andy, you remember that time during the cleanup we saw that Mekboy trying to weld an engine block he'd put on his stump arm to the arm of a crane and he was like 'Lookz like I da Warbosses now!' only to be crushed by a fallon oven? Ya...kinda getting the same feeling here."

Andy slowed his step, letting the other guardsmen pass the brothers by. "You're gonna have to jog my memory, Simmy," he whispered.
"Now listen here, you little shit," Simmy said with a grin. "You know damn well what I'm talking about... or did that happen while you were stuffing your face with rat?"
Andy put a hand to his chest, indignated. "Hey! It was mighty fine rat, and I was just wondering whether you meant the last time we saw a mekboy weld a crane arm to his engine block-stump!"
"No, no! Remember, we got that one with a makeshift grox trap," said Simmy.
"Oh, right! Felt a bit sorry for their teeth, but that was a funny one," said Andy. "So which was this one?"
"The one before last," explained Simmy. "The one you said looked an awful lot like grandma."
Andy snickered, and had to put a hand to his mouth to stiffle it. "Yeah, with those jowls and excepting the, uh, green complexion?"
    "Oh, so now you remember!"
"Yeah, with some help!" Andy retorted.
"Not my fault all the toxic sludge went to your brain," answered Simmy. Andy shushed him down. "Either way, where were you? You reckon we're the mekboy?" Andy asked.
"Now you're gettin' it," said Simmy.
    "But who's the oven?"
"Whatever's about to hit us," Simmy muttered.

Hearing the stupid banter between what she assumed was a sniper-spotter team, Saven irately said to them "Would you two jokers mind keeping ya gob shut? Not everyone wants to hear your quaint war stories." Clearly, she didn't have that much respect for them... And similar sentiments could be expressed about everyone else in the thrown-together group barring the Commissar for the obvious reason of self-preservation by not insulting the person that can execute the hybrid for insubordination.

"Speaking of looking an awful lot like grandma...!" came a hiss from one of the sniper brothers.

Saven groaned at the stupid comment, but retorted in response "And I'm fairly sure that you two have the combined intelligence of an Ork."

  9. Sebastev was waiting for the half breed to say something pompous.

"Let them speak if they like, a few words will not attract any attention from Eldar or other xenos. You should know after all." Sebastev snipped and did not make amy effort to hide his xenophobia from the she elf.

Sgt Alton looked at thr banter with distain but said nothing about it. He had a serious face on, eyeing both thr Commissar and the rest of this squad. He was assessing team ups. The brothers look to be fine but he was worried Saven may get a bullet from that Vostrayn. So diverse this crew is and it was up to him to make them work as one. He sighed and waited for the others to banter along to see how they interacted.
