The devs want to make the game lore accurate, but a game should never under any circumstance compromise its gameplay for the sake of lore accuarcy if it does not compliment the gameplay in an meaningfull or posetive way. In the case of this being a Massive Multiplayer Online PvP game I see no reason to restict people for the sake of lore when it serves no purpose gameplay wise, in the context of this specific genre of games.
I disagree, Lore in World of Warcraft for example showed Horde and Alliance working together to defeat common enemies yet you can't party up with people from the other faction for public raids. That didn't affect the gameplay in any way but they went with the lore accuracy. For the record I agree with you that there obviously should be cross chapter squads.
I think Makeka wasn't referring to DIFFERENT factions like Eldars and Orks but sub-factions from the same race like Nurgle Marines and Iron Warriors both from Chaos. I support this kind of mixing as it is perfectly in accordance with the lore. Sure they sometimes compete and fight against each other but more often than not suppport each other (e.g Black Crusades and not only).
So you say the squads shouldn't consist of e.g. Iron Warriors, Black Legion guys and Word Bearers mixed together (cos i'm not sure i understand correctly)?
No, In world of warcraft lore Alliance and Horde have worked together. There was a lore reasoning to allow them to group up and play together, there was no gameplay element that would have been ruined by allowing it and yet they didn't do it. Just pointing out that you don't always make decisions with lore or gameplay justification.
The point wasn't made to compare the game to WoW in either concept or background. It was a point about game design methodology and best practice.
I think that the players that are aginst the idea regardless of the ingame play, are forgetting that this is a joint operation between players the main idea that the devs are going for is massive scale co op and to me that will definently need a player or 2 (WC) to at least try and get aome type of organization between players.
the way I hope that would be done is council demands/points are transmitted by squad leaders so if you join an ultra squad leader you would receive ultra commands but if you leave the squad you would then go back to the dark angel transmission
