Hmm cool. I wont be a joke and suggest a FF legion warband , God specifics are banned too which means a lot of good choices are excluded..hmm.. The most pragmatic choice would be Red Corsairs ofc but lets add some imagination and act like they dont exist , for the sake of something new.

I always liked the Death Shadows http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Death_Shadows#.UnUMGPnxp6Y .

Aesthetically , they have a very interesting colour scheme , combined with cloaks and robes that give them a very spectral look. I imagine them as some short of ghostly guerilla warriors who appear out of thin air , kick arse and then disapear. Their theme , which is clearly around the area of wraiths , has a lot of space for iconography and mood. Maybe the inside of their ships and their areas in general are fashioned after catacombs or a Necropolis. Maybe they are cursed by the Gods to indeed have a more ethereal existance , possibly of the Warp Talons' kind.

Lore-wise , we know that these guys assaulted Ultramar which instantly makes them owners of steel balls and fellow anti-smurf activists. After their disastrous fail , they got cornered by nids who consumed their world. Now their whereabout are uknown. So , maybe , after the tyranid's razed their home , the Death Shadows where pushed to an even more secretive and guerilla-warfare style. They could have survived and in order to replenish their strength , they sell themselves as hired muscle to stronger warbands as a cover , while infact , they are stealing from their "masters" genestocks to recover their own. Maybe , athey didnt survive the tyranids at all. Maybe they are actuall ghosts , some play of the Warp , after-mages of their selves. Maybe their hate for the Ultramarines , who they blame for their loss was so strong and malicious that the Gods in amusement granted the Death Shadows an unlife of torment and eternal hunt for vengeance.

As for their "mood" They could be creepy and silent , their personality reflecting every aspect of a "ghost.

Gameplay wise , these dude could have some serious pros as stealth-classes and/or havocs.

Very very interesting thread. I like your style , even though you are a blasphemous atheist , son of a broken legion of bandits.

You get the idea. Nice contribution, I had heard of these guys and have had seen their color scheme before, but was unaware that they assaulted Ultramar... all the more neat. I like your suggestion of even their ships being different, definitely awesome if their ships were like that of a necropolis/catacomb.

that would be funny, everyone else would be like "we all need to go here" and the one from the Sons of Malice would just be like "nope.... i disagree..... fuck all yall"
