I voted all three. Orks do too much damage with the electrified choppa. Electrified choppas do more damage than power swords, are faster plus stun on hit. They do even more damage than the power maul/crozius.

Plasma deffguns kill everything in seconds.

Not sure how you could complain about all this.

And I was agreeing with you, orks don't have melee either

Honestly, I don't know why people say orks are So awful in melee. I have my slugga shield boy, has an power axe and healing kit, some average gubbinz, and I usually get about 15 kills a match if Im there the whole match, all melee. I'm not amazing or anything, but I usually get a commendation for melee or something.

only thing id wanna see is klaws being a little faster. 3-4 second charge up for heavy attack is a looooong time. Almost unusable in a duel. They are good for taking out tanks and heavy support that arnt watching you, but I usually just stick to power axe for the most part.

My set up can usually two shot marines with a power attack and fast, sometimes one hit. Granted these are probably people who are super green with not too many upgrades yet, and veterans are a whole different story, but they are supposed to be tough as nails anyway. Even then, I've taken down more vets with my slugga shield boy than I have with any other load out. So I'm content right now!

Also, I love the shield!! It has so many other uses than just melee. I like to crouch down in front of a loota or shoots boy by a door with shield up. They shoot over my head, and about 75 percent of incoming fire to the lootas and shootas hits the shield. It's a great option when there's no melee targets cause u can't just walk shield up 30 yards with two marines shooting u and expect to live. It's the only class that makes me feel Tanky.

Can't wait till I'm actually past rank 3 and hit 5...I can only imagine how dead 'ard slugga nob is compared to now!!

Chiefly the problem I have come across is this: the obscene amounts of power weapons. For Orks, one of our main claims to fame is our high Toughness value, which is supposed to mitigate damage. However, it is frankly rare to encounter a Space Marine which is Rank 2 or higher who doesn't have a Power Weapon. And Power Weapons completely negate Toughness, thereby destroying our initial claim to fame. This makes Orks terribly vulnerable in melee unless you yourself have a power weapon. Orks get 3 power weapons in total and they are in the 12k and 30k boxes only.

Because LSM/CSM (and to a lesser extent the Eldar with Banshees) are able to purchase and use the Power Weapons earlier than we can, and because there's no reason NOT to take a power weapon, we get constantly outclassed by RMB-spamming players. Literally, it's like a blender a lot of the time. Smart play and a Shield help, but when a horde of Powersword/Powerfist-wielding JPA players start spamming away it just gets plain frustrating. And most LSM players play JPA or Shield Marines with Power Weapons.

Orks are awful in melee because our melee animations are subpar to marine melee animations. Orks literally, travel slower, travel less distance, turn less (if locked on target moves behind) and will hit less people due to diagonal strikes in lieu or marine sweeping horizontals. We also have animations that stutter and start and stop movement instead of the iceskating that marines can do flowing one attack into another without losing forward momentum. This is true with almost every single melee weapon in the game. Also without our melee weapons having any different stats to equivalent marine weapons.

In addition to this, all of these things apply to the Ork Dbash as well, which allows for massive abuse of the Dbash dodge cheat that all marines do now, which comeplete negates 1 of our 3 options in the RPS system. Basically if you fighting in melee you're playing RPS where they go: "ROCK *sees you went paper* NO WAIT I MEANT SCISSORS I WIN HAHAHA GIT GUD" And they can replicate this with 100% reliability until they run out of stamina or you run out of health.

The only advantage orks have in melee I can possibly think of is we fast attack with axes just as fast as our swords, which isn't any faster than a power sword or a knife, so it's less we have an advantage and more that it's just not worse in one aspect.

So basically Ork melee is objectively worse with no compensation for it whatsoever. Which doesn't make sense thematically or from a game balance perspective. Some people say our pistols make up for it, but a crippled melee system cannot be compensated for.

Imagine if you were playing chivalry and you could only do vertical strikes but enemy could use horizontal.

Well that explains why people feel that way! Thanks for explaining it to me.

I also forgot to mention that when it comes to Sluggas, the best toughness you can get is 160, which against a power weapon is about 10% damage reduction. So you'll spend over 1000 LP to get tanky, and they spend 100LP (0 if eldar because innate power swords on warlock and banshee) and negate almost all of it.

I did the math ages ago but if memory serves the old Ork Slugga Nob in a full tank loadout required only 1 extra heavy attack to kill. The new veteran health boosts may have brought that up to two, but I don't think so. I'd have to do the math again.

This isn't particularly a complaint for orks, since everyone is in the same boat as far as melee killing super fast, but more something to keep in mind with the way the game is balanced right now. It's far cheaper and more effective to focus on making an offensive loadout than a defensive one. Not saying defense is completely useless, but defensive stats basically only affect ranged combat.

If you do like the shields, the Big Metal Bit is suuuuuuuuuuuper expensive at 400LP but has something like double or triple the shield health, so you may want to keep an eye out for that.

See I've only been playing forms few weeks, so this is all great information for me. What's a good offensive load out for orks then? Any good suggestions?

Depends on your style of play honestly, and your opponents. If you're Melee I'd say Sparky Slugga and Electro-Axe with Super-Stikkbombs for any tanks you find. Or replace the Sparky Slugga with the Shield, that helps against incoming fire. And if you can get the Big Metal Bit (honestly only really effective with Nobs due to LP cost) you can last a LONG time if you've had time to practice. If you're more of a Ranged person then the Shoota is your standby, just give it all the mods you can find lol.
