Hello everyone, I had an idea about the game that I think would be great for immersion and teamwork. This MMO, from what I've gathered is based around squad based combat in a larger setting, similar to Planetside 2. Using a VoIP system built into the game client would not only make things easier for communication but can also add a great deal of immersion. By implementing voice filters(these are optional of course) for each race, you could sound like a real Space Marine or Eldar of course if your character was not wearing a helmet I suppose this would not happen. I'm no game developer and I don't know how this would/could be implemented but if it was considered I think it would be really cool, especially for teamwork and roleplaying. Thanks a lot for reading this and have a nice day.
Yes i must agree, i always hated to use third party voice charts (TS, RC etc..) always liked to use the one integrated in the game. And YES again i always wanted to have voice filters (optionals as you stated) because the inmersion they will grant will be priceless. I must add if there is any little chance for the voice filters will be added it would be the first game in my entire life where ive seen that, so please Devs, hear our call!! read this post!!
I think the voice filters should be something that could be turned on or off at will, but damn right should they be there. This also sounds like a brilliant idea. Yeah, I agree with this too. The only thing I really use is Skype, those other server-based programs have just failed me one too many times.
they could also add something that an arma 2 mod adds (ACRE i think). we could have separate vox channels for each squad and maybe one for the higher ranking players that can inform their faction of important events/areas that need more troops. also there could be interference based on distance and maybe players being able to place things like comunication jammers.
This was mentioned in another thread, Source if you want to read more http://forum.eternalcrusade.com/threads/voice-support-and-text-chat-in-game.376/#post-3568
I'm glad that I am not the only one who shares in this idea. There are many posts that have requested this function as well. Let us hope it will be included?
It's a decent idea as long as you have your options to turn it on or off at will; as well as muting specific players that tend to breathe rape style into their mic while holding down their transmit key.
if they add a filter I think it should be a extra thing you buy. If they work so hard for a game I think they should have some extra credit
My first thing to do in case we have any voip in any game, to turn it off. I dont wanna hear how random people breathing through their mics, how they raising their kids, what fights or worse going in the background. I want controlled environment where i can only hear my guild whom i trust they dont feed me rl ork droppings. Most games that had VoIP so far were simply bad quality. Also apart from 1-2 twelve years old whose voice scratched your brain, noone used it. And when they did, just read my above experiences for a reminder. I dont know, this was maybe different on console games, but these are my experiences on PC games. And I played a few. Ventrilo, Teamspeak, Mumble, they are both excellent programs, solely for this purpose. Not that hard to set them up either. I'd say no for ingame VoIP. I dont wanna upset anyone, I just simply hate the idea based on my experiences.
