Having the ability to use a 'listen' mode which only hears the conversations of commanders would be handy if the main chat gets, shall we say, 'overrun' by other conversations? Speaking personally, I'll be using Mumble most of the time. Our guild often has people who aren't in a specific game, but are in chat, and we won't want to give that community up.
Voted for: InGame Voice Chat with voice modulator (so you would sound like an Eldar or an Ork) But it would have to have the option to turn it off (the voice modulator and the voice itself) The option to mute people and turn people down. That way if someone is talking with what sounds like the mic in their mouth (lol) you can turn them down!
maybe the voicechat could work with the numpad 1-9 for single squadmembers 0 for whole squad and one of the other buttons for all voices around you one for strikeforce well cant think of more ^^
I suggest you do ingame voice chat with voice modulators for the immersion and the ones that want external can still use there external voice chat
Oh my Emperor, modulator please! I wanna taunt them heretics and sound like a space marine while doing so.
While agree that, what i like to call voice spam could be a problem have the ability to mute players specifically and then turn the whole system off as options would make it very awesome. Speaking through my helmet as a space marine it would have that artificial broadcasted sound if I take my helmet off the modulation should go away as well wouldnt make since if i was walking around with out my helmet and it sounded like a space marine with one on. so having modulation as an option would be a cool RP element. Also I think setting up sound levels for various "levels" So there would be back ground and you could adjust that so that would act like proximity chat, then squad and then commander. Under those options u could have commander be louder then squad chat that would be louder then background, and allow the player to custom the levels. While i understand that having background chat may be distracting and some players may mute it. Could u imagine the sound and the adriline rush if u could here the cry's of your brothers as everybody rushes toward the enemy? just a thought.
Can't agree enough! Would be a welcome break from the squeaky sound of pubescent kids yelling down my ear ala xbox live.
Threw my vote in for chat with modulator, I never plan on ever using it since I hate voip's, but the idea sounds good and I'd hate to deny people what they want
