Interesting organization, within the Imperium of Man! Few lore questions: Vigilia Mortis should be created out of some events and perhaps by someone out of Adeptus Astartes themselves, since regular space marines are primary loyal to their chapter and their promotion to the Deathwatch is either to honor their chapter (For it's unbelievable honor to be in Deathwatch). Can you tell me a bit about that? Also, do you accept people, representing "canon" chapters, or may someone suggest their own?
Our back story is a cross between Deathwatch/Grey Knight foundation, if you've ever watched 'Game of Thrones', think of us as the Nights Watch - we watch over the entire Galaxy, our oaths are now with Vigilia Mortis. Before I get into it our lore is merely made for the purpose of fun, something that makes sense to connect our the Chapters together under one banner. My Imperial Fist character, Chapter Mast Valrak was recruited by a high ranking Inquisitorial official on Terra to create a secret Chapter that took the best of what the Astartes had to offer. He searched throughout the Galaxy and chose members who showed true dedication to the Emperor and the Imperium. Over time the ranks grew with legendary warriors who took their oaths to serve, ever watching over the galaxy. Though over time the Inquisition grew wary and became fearful of what they had created, on one mission the entire Chapter was deployed and suffered heavy losses stopping a splinter Hive fleet. The Inquisition seeing the Chapters weakness decided to strike, they summoned the Chapter Master to answer for his crimes, blaming him for the Chapters losses, thought the true crime was that the Inquisitor who was stationed to look over the Chapter was responsible for sending the main bulk of the fleet away in a panic. Seeing that the Chapter was going to be wiped from the records, leaving no Space Marine alive to tell the tale Chapter Master Valrak made sure he the Chapter would live past this day. Knowing what was coming and sensing the betrayal he had the Chapters Battle-Barge armed and all its weapons focused upon the Inquisitorial ship and fleet, at the trial he spoke these words. “I have taken a course of action to see that Vigilia Mortis will live past this day, even as we bicker the guns of our battle barge are loaded and ready to blow us into oblivion. We are ready to answer for our mistakes Inquisitor, are you ready to be judged for yours?!” Through his aggressive actions the Inquisitorial court ordered them on a penance Crusade for their actions, Valrak agreed but again saw through their cowls of lies. They were sent to a Watch Station on the Eastern fringe to battle an Xenos threat, they would find more information about the foe once arriving at the Station. Fearing the worst, Chapter Master Valrak ordered his crew on full alert for when they dropped out of Warp, the Inquisition were not to be trusted, the entire penance Crusade was not to be trusted. The ship dropped out of Warp and upon navigating to the Watch Station they were met with no presence, the station had been abandoned for some time. Chapter Master Valrak ordered his Astartes onto the Watch Station to investigate what happened to the crew. Thats where we are up to at the moment with our story. We only allow official GW Chapters, we did allow player made ones at one point but it become to out of hand with some of the Chapters we were getting. Hope that helps you
That totally beats my story of a bunch of Space Marines were getting drunk in a bar together and during their drunkenness, they decided to make their own chapter full of nerds.
