Patch was it a good one?

  1. Great patch! I felt the Meta shift has brought melee and the rest of the game into a good spot.

  2. Not too bad. The Meta shift was a bit harsh but we can make do.

  3. Needs some work. This Shift was simply too large and makes non melee almost obsolete.

  4. LP cost reduction are Very nice and leave plenty of room for customization. Thanks BE!

  5. LP costs for some aren't too bad but other factions still could use some love.

  6. LP costs are simply outrageous and need too be looked at again.

  1. 1. Pistol and Sword. There should be inherent advantages and disadvantages for always have a pistol in one hand and a melee weapon in the other hand on a melee build. One advantage is having quick access to the pistol in close combat because it's already in hand and it's lighter than a 2 handed weapon.

    2. Bolter. There should be inherent advantages(long range, optics, increased drop off, fullly automatic, extended mags, armour piercing rounds, cqc barrel) and disadvantages of wielding a 2 handed weapon. Bolter being a 2 handed weapon.

    3. We're all assuming the stun will be slightly increased(.5 to .25 seconds) to give knife wielding players a chance to land bash then immediately land a follow up knife strike without clanging. Though one would assume the one handed knife strike will be much faster than putting away the knife, pulling back up the 2 handed bolter in both hands, aiming then firing the 2 handed bolter.

    4. Melee classes have the longer stun because melee classes should have inherent advantages vs ranged opponents in a melee encounter. Though the current tactical stun, as we all know, is just a tad bit too short.

    They already had inherent advantages though such as having more ehp(unless you play any Eldar class), melee damage, clang damage and winning against all knife tier clangs and on some classes jump packs and storm shields which imo greatly break the melee system.

    Honestly melee classes keeping instant killing d bashes is just another game breaking mechanic they can abuse honestly, it's fine for a duel to be ended by a pistol but not done for one to only be won with just a kick and a pistol
  3. And we all saw over the last 5 months how all of those awesome advantages have worked out. You left out melee supports and JPA having terrible durability.

    When we add back in another .25 to .5 seconds to the tactical bash stun duration so that we can land a follow up knife strike without clanging, which needs to happen, all the other various broken states of melee will all come crashing right back down to the forefront:

    -Lunge and evade attacks are still broken.
    -Axes and Mauls are still too slow to work and excel within the fast pace of our combat system.
    -We still only have 2 mod slots for melee weapons and a lot of the melee mods are terribly overpriced and/or woefully under performing.
    -106%-136% increase in ranged damage per headshot
    - 30 LP for the god mode drum mag while the mediocre life leech mod for melee weapons costs 100 LP.
    -1 handed knife to 2 handed bolter to 1 handed knife is instant and is missing the weapon transition animations and delays

    The list goes on.

    Let's not forget the problem all along has been the speed at which we can go from 2 handed bolter to 1 handed melee/knife then back to 2 handed bolter without proper delays and proper weapon transition animations.

    By any stretch of the imagination the fact that we cannot bash + knife attack is a broken set up. Lets not pretend that this has fixed the laundry list of melee vs ranged problems. It's broken and will be fixed. After that fix has been implemented ranged classes will return to beast mode and the list of items above will still remain.
  4. JPA pay for there mobility. Your not going to convince anyone that JPA should be the same as a ground assault class in terms of armor and survival as well as having insane mobility. We already had that and the fixes that change JPA are quite balanced for the power you get from there mobility. Sound familiar? :)

    Obviously they didn't work for you Njord when you try to strong attack a boltor tactical close range to the front with a chain axe:rolleyes: and engage from the front as well

    You complain on how range is cheating in melee but when you finally realize that melee has always had the ability to do and range classes had it taken away you cling on to this exploit like it's what you deserve, you want it fair Njord you give tactical classes the ability to have the pre nerf stun time when they have a pistol and knife out and see how long it takes for you to get sick of it.

    I mean after all
    I mean you would never flip flop on this rule right and take away all the advantages of having your melee weapon and pistol out before hand for a single class type, I mean the stun time and pistol ain't that broken right according to you?

  7. I was simply stating that he left out JPA and melee supports having low durability. I wasn't bringing the topic up for discussion.
  8. Just remember if you want something to be fair you have to make it fair for everyone so if JPA get a boost in survival and keep the mobility, Eldar would need a boost in survival so they are not the only ones paying for mobility. Its all part of a well balanced game. ^_^

    Basically I want to see the auto kill d bashes removed from the game completely, you seem to think it fine for melee classes so I want to see how the system would do if tactical classes had the same stun time as melee if they have a knife and pistol out before hand.

    It could be a fun mess of a patch I think.

  10. Well it's really not an auto win for melee. In fact, as many have pointed out, it's more effective to head shot with pistol than it is to use your melee weapon after landing a bash. Though again, headshot damage is the issue, not the pistol because the pistol has not changed in 2 years.

    As long as tactical classes have time to bash + fully auto Bolter the system will be broken. Look to the last 5 months if you have any doubts.

    Check the current "top 5 list" and the current "top 10" lists. How many times have pistols been mentioned I wonder? Zero I think.
