I wanted to create this thread to try and help the devs tune up this new patch to help find a happy place for the community. The Meta has very clearly changed and alot of players want to see things changed but we need more that shit posting, toxic comments, and Eldar open being thrown about on these forums. So I ask you keep it civil and try to get to the core of what can be changed and improved and just remember that this is simply a step in the right direction towards change. I'll post a few votes but if I miss anything feel free to post ideas and if you like their idea just drop a like and if you don't like it please don't shit talk it. The LP changes are nice. The MC weapons in particular really required a cost reduction because they simply weren't worth the extra cost as they were. I'm not sure they needed to change the costs of anything else though, to be honest. As to the DBash change - just no. We already had DBashes like this, but they weren't lopsided, every DBash was too short. It was awful and it was rightly changed. Now they've gone back to that system, but made only Ranged DBashing too short, thus cementing Ranged players' behaviour in continuing to fire their ranged weapons when in melee. That's the exact opposite of what they should have been trying to achieve. They've clearly misunderstood the core problem with Ranged vs Melee at the moment. It's not that Melee needed a bigger advantage over Ranged in close combat, it's that Ranged were able to bypass close combat entirely and continue to fight using their strongest tools.
LP needs some changes , the fusion pistol got zero changes while plasma did, flickering fire is now a much worse plasma pistol and has now lost any usefulness and the Master crafted Narth is only a 10lp upgrade! I also feel like the 120 pen knives need to be brought down to 50lp so you choose between damage or durability instead of durability all the time because it's cheaper, keep the Nurgle knife at around 80lp
I believe the major nerf Flickering Fire saw was a considerable range decrease. It used to at least be possible to potshot people from half the map away and laugh as they scampered about trying to work out why they were on fire. Now it's only useful for killing off downed enemies before they can be revived without having to walk out into the open.
The range is a big problem but the biggest problem is just the price, you would have to make it cost 50lp to be even worth considering giving up a spell slot, if you take MoT it's generally for the heal, that means that now that FF is dead I can take a plasma pistol and warp instability and as a result support and better defend myself than any FF build
It also absolutely chews through Warp Charge. If it diminished at the same rate as heals, or better yet - only cost Warp Charge when it dealt damage, just like the heal only costs Warp Charge when it actually heals something, that would be much better.
Patch was very needed and has made the game feel a lot better. Only problem is, as expected, the dbash change. Just increase the stun time by a little bit again, but not to 1.3 levels, and we'll have a perfect patch here.
This patch almost completely negated the Painboys ability to melee. They cant even get fast attack off after a dbash. RMB spam beats them every time. Like seriously, we dont need more reasons not to play orkz. This is my biggest salt.
They have already acknowledged this during their last stream and plan on fixing it in the near future. It'll be better soon.
