I feel as though players should be rewarded for participating in the game on both the short term, and the long term. I'm going to assume that there are 41 levels of horizontal progression in the game. I'm also going to assume that it will take more than one campaign to gain enough experience to get to level 41 in that time unless you strike gold and get huge amounts of xp in that time.

I also feel as though EC can be inspired a little bit from game's like LoL and Dota in terms of gaining a feeling of becoming "elite" over the course of a campaign. I'd like to see another xp bar fill up about four times as fast as the main xp bar with a series of combat related skills.

To keep things consistent, there should be 41 levels here too, and they would act like a talent tree players can spend 41 extra points in a specialization they hone over the course of a campaign.

Using the example of an Orkboy, I have 4 different options:

    Shoota
    Speedfreak
    Sneaky
    Choppa

Each has a ten point tree. Players can spend their points in one or all four the trees. If one fills up, a player can choose to "Specialize". This resets the tree with a new tier of abilities available and can only do this if the tree was completely filled. They can Specialize 4 times, and earn a final "Elite" point on their 41st campaign level. If they go "Elite", their campaign xp is reset, but they retain their "Mark", allowing them to equip the trophy and retain a single ability from that talent tree so long as they are wearing that Mark.

The end of the Campaign and Veteran Status

At the end of every Campaign, all talent trees are reset and the abilities within them lost until they are re-earned throughout the next Campaign.

What remains, are the Marks and normal experience you gained from it. You retain whatever ability your Mark allows you to use, so long as you are wearing it.

Veteran: Requires you to become level 41, and to have 3 Marks from the same tree. Those abilities are combined into a watered down passive that no longer requires a Mark and can then be amplified if you earn those talents again throughout the course of any campaign. The passive stays through the reset of the campaign.

    Ideas? Thoughts?

Hmm. I definitely see your point. Well the concept is me thinking about the endgame of EC and seeing a sort of bleakness if ambition are no longer factors when you're no longer leveling. I mean, the campaign resets. How do you feel about that?

What factors in the game allow you to continue to be ambitious? Continue to strive to become that "elite" status?

You are elite with more gaming you have done, what shows is gear, cosmetic changes aesthetics, titles, and weapons availability, what needs to be done is to reflect how many campaigns you have been part of what you have done, one way or another, people are talking about progress taking you months, when you are playing Dota or lol your maxed within minutes how many they may be.

When the campaign is over we move on, the setting resets but not the player.

However this is a bit of an sketchy field to converse about, we have not heard what is final regarding the methods they will employ for the crusades, will they reset and we continue, will we move on to another map and that map which we gamed on is not available for now? because someone has won? well at any rate let us say it is as we suspect.

But if you want to reset characters because as it might be something i dont like, however i am open for it depending on how it is introduced, then let us say for example.

One crusade lasts for a month, you fight and such and you lvl up quite high by participating a lot in it, that in it self when you reset makes you retain some of the experience permanently so next time you spawn your ahead of any other with a few lvls, next time those few lvls increase, so in the end of months and months of crusading you will spawn at max lvl in the end, gear and such however are tied to lvl so if you unlock or get dropped lots of cool stuff it does not vanish you just ant use it immediately.

So if you play your third crusade at lvl 15 as a starting point or something in those lines, and you got a friend all decked out in cosmetics and cool looking gear, as well as weaponry you will know this is a high ranking dude with loads of experience.

Honestly if the end of every campaign reset my progress I wouldn't play that's a very bad plan.

I hated WoW expansion doing a reset of the game for no reason, if they reset the game every 2 weeks/months i wouldn't even buy it.
