Hm...as much as I hate the DA, I have to admit you guys have a point. The imperial fists weren't in, the spacewolves and ultramarines were busy raging at each other and the fact all the blood angel important ppl are already places (I think) means that I guess belial is a decent choice. My concern over the possible actions of the DA remains, but I will admit this thread had some very good points and will thus concede form now Belial was not a terrible choice.
Maybe later. Don't get me wrong, i'm not saying the Ultramarines are perfect. When they get their shit together they are a terrifying force, but just as often they are a inflexible organization following a 10,000 year old mistranslated bible. Every legion has those flaws, it's what makes them interesting. Whether it's my legions outstanding arrogance or the Night Lords collapsing in on themselves due to a lack of direction from their Primarch and gradually growing more out of control. Or how on the loyalists side the Space Wolves were massive hypocrites during the burning of Prospero or how the Imperial Fists stubbornness serves as a weakness as well as a strength, often marching them to a horrific death. Some of these flaws are grey areas to some people, but many...like the ones I just listed...are objectively there, and you know what? That's part of what makes a Legion cool, rather then a collection of Mary Sues. Which is why I find it slightly odd that a Dark Angel would deny the duplicity and untrustworthyness that's ingrained in the Legions history, it doesn't make the Dark Angels bad per say, but it hardly makes them the best candidates for leadership.
It is not because our Primarch was a smart man, thinking first to the well being of the imperium that he think himself better than his other brother. It is the same with his sons. But where your lords and chapters live for wars, Ultramarines live for the imperium, we build, we organise, we are architect warriors. Even during the heresy of the traitor Horus the imperium secundus was lead by the fittest of all the "survivor" Primarch the noble Sanguinius. We never thought of ourself as better, we have gifts as all chapters have. The loyalty of the wolfs, the dedication of the sons of Dorn, the righteousness of the heirs of Sanguinius, the will of the Gorgons children, the humanity of the nocturne's sons, the spirit of the Scars, the sthealth of the raven and the honour of the lion's sons. We never put ourselves above the rest, we do what we must for giving you an imperium to defend, against chaos we organise. As you do what you must to keep your oaths and duty fulfilled. Yes you have scorn for us, it is sad, because only with our brotherhood can we all defend and build the dream of Him on Terra and our forefathers.
Gonna have to disagree, the Scars have a free spirit that I don't think the Ultramarines and their militant love of law and order share.
Yes White Scars have a free spirit, and yes it do not go well with Ultramarines. But we have need for free spirit soldier able to walk the galaxy freely and without need for heavy support and continious guidance. The point that i was trying to make is that we need each other to win the day. Yes even DA are needed, after all who's gonna stab us in the back... I'm joking DA bnrother but please stay ahead.
To be fair, I don't think the scars would approve of anyone but a scar leading, that is their way. The Khan was always the most distant of the Primarchs, and candidly said things that were outright blasphemous because it was in his nature to be blunt, up to outright defying imperial orders for what he felt was the good of the people. The Khan was wonderful in that way, though I get the impression that perhaps that free spirit may of gotten him killed by the Dark Eldar.
Get a better title and upgrade this thread to feather weight. What's done is done, deal with it get some part time employment and look for a girlfriend/boyfriend.
