Vehicles, Driving And Tying Them To A Pole

Discussion in 'Ask the Team' started by Noctifer, Jul 7, 2014.

  1. well Uriel was riding on a rhino :D
it would be cool if this is possible but can start to look very stupid I there is a whole squad doing this

and imagine the rhino is driving full speed into a rock! Space marine catapult :D

there would still remain the problem of getting on top of a vehicle, unless they were scalable I guess,

and yeah, standing on an elevated platform has both pros and cons, greater visibilty cuts both ways
  3. 'Standing on a rhino firing a heavy bolter'
If I could stand there, shooting xenos with a heavy bolter, while the american flag waves in the background, with the TEAM AMERCA FAK EAH song playing in the background, I think I'd be the happiest cupcake in the world.

Woooo!! idea on that part of thing! The bike-share and shopping cart programs!

So you get the vehicle at the base for [X] req. Drive off and get out. If you plan to use it again later that's fine, leave it be with a long timer, eventually it becomes a wreck when no one is watching, or just despawns cause its a game and we all accept some suspension of disbelief.

But! you can also despawn / wreck it yourself once you get out and you get [Y] req if you do for cleaning up your own litter. So carrot approach to keeping a clean battlefield :)
  5. How about instead of wrecking it yourself, if you return it to a spawn point for vehicles, you get Y req back? Makes more sense for High Command to say 'well done, you returned that expensive vehicle relatively unscathed' than 'well done, you managed to keep that vehicle relatively unscathed and then destroyed it yourself...'
  6. half req back when you bring it home
    sounds good to me
would also be very immersive if players really care for their vehicles

  7. I suppose the issue of standing on top of vehicles gets even more interesting when it's open topped. How many Orks can you pile into the back of a trukk, on top of its normal transport capacity?

    Greenskin clown car, anyone?

Brilliance in it's raw green essence
  9. I rely prefer your idea, its better than having a despawn or wrecking timer.
After all you spend resources to get the vehicle in the first place, then you should rely take care to not lose it.

There should be a restriction on who can use it. either your group, clan or faction.
If an enemy want to use it, maybe a iron priest/techmarine or equivalent can convert it to there faction.
orks loot the vehicle, chaos puts chaos stars, spikes and skulls on theirs. the techmarine gets it back by clensing the machine spirit and sanctifying it safe for use (also removes skulls, spikes and ork glyphs).
don't rely know what the eldar would do to a imperial vehicle if they stole it.

You would begin in your base, you requisition a rhino and speed of towards the enemy base.
Close to the enemy base me and my pack disembark from the Rhino and advance towards the enemy.
We sneak up as close as possible and charge the enemy position. the fighting is soon over and we have taken all the enemy's spawn points so they can't respawn anywhere near us. now we send a marine back to pick up the rhino and continue to our next objective. At that point we do not want to discover that the rhino has magicaly despawnd leaving us stranded in the middle of nowhere having to walk to our next objective.

theres does need to be a desspawning mechanic though for unattended vehicles...otherwise some areas might end up looking a little like car parks lol...

also every model for player or vehicle the server has to keep track of on the map increases the loading on that server, thats the reasoning the Devs used when they said that bodies wont be persistant and would dissapear after a short time....to prevent map clutter
