Team Fortress 2 has that system - Duel. You fight and game like you usually do, but there is a counter between you and your opponent that will create a rivalry for centuries! I'd love some sort of Nemesis system that tracks your battles against another player, no matter when or where you are - Find both of you on the battlefield at random? IT'S ON.
That would be a fantastic idea that's also thematic. Imagine, I mess around with the orks a bit and now I'm targeted by many for a spot on their Boss Poles. Personal vendettas and the like would be cool and allow players to immerse themselves in a bit more as well.
Ok, explain to me how this would work. You see, it would be a bit hard to implement, is it up to you to decide this? Press a button while looking at someone? Will it just count your kills of them and theirs to you? (This can interfere with the server) Like, how would this work? If I see the player will an Icon come up above them? (that would be bad for immersion somewhat) It would also be annoying. Will there be some kind of aura? When you fight them will a field come up around you two? (that would be cool, but annoying as hell for, every other player in game. This is one of those ideas that should just be player driven, if you play the game and you meet the same player a bunch of times, you two naturally will become competitive to one another, hell you two could start a reputation in game amongst other players.
Being player driven is probably for the best, but perhaps if some player is wreaking quite a bit of havoc against your side a bounty could perhaps be placed. Honestly though I do believe its probably best to leave it up to the players.
I dont like the idea of a specific enemy being targeted. Although the concept sounds fun, I doubt it will ever be fun for the single guy with 30 Orks targeting only him and I cant see myself having a ton of fun trying to get to the guy first, especially if I know I started further away. I know you just threw that out there, but just to bring it up, I think it would be more fun if the space marine/eldar is unmarked to the orks, but the orks are notified that an enemy has a massive point accumulation (making him more army-wide effective than a high killstreak) nearby and that whoever kills them gets a bonus of whatever. Maybe it give's you a clue to what class or vehicle he's in, because the game's decided he's too good at this point. When the enemy is killed, only then is his name revealed. In so, all the nearby Orks will see his screen name and subfaction and know he's tough, as well as the player who took him down and just earned a ton or Ork respect. I think this would also be a great way for players to see a trend of who is an effective player, both individuals and clans. in addition this could be used to decide who gets a seat on the war council. Players that are targeted for their "warfront effectiveness" are given 1 point every time they enter that state and an additional 1 point if they can survive their bounty without fleeing the area or hiding in a spawn zone. The points could be added to each players profile along with votes from other players rating their effectiveness at leading.
No problem, the purpose of these forums is to discuss afterall. Yeah its just hard to find an effective and fun way to incorporate a system such as that into the game. That sounds pretty neat for the Orks I have to say.

Well for the TT only Sergeants and higher can Challenge, and it is in part a way to tie up a Squads Sergeant or Character so you're basic Squadmates don't end up fighting a Captain and such one on one. Even if your Sgt. dies, he's bought you time to wipe out your basic counterparts so your squad can gang up on the Hero/Elite. The other reason is so Characters/Heroes can challenge each other and have epic duels during a Battle. Think Abaddon meeting Calgar for a fight whilst their respective armies are locked in combat around them.
Voice modulation... Absolutely, I see there has been some bickering in regards to this on the loyalist side of things, fair enough, I care not for your petty squabbling. If this is at all possible, at the very least for the traitor legions and greenskins I support this idea one hundred percent. That being said, the whole concept of engineering something along those lines makes my plague addled brain hurt. It just seems like a colossal undertaking if at a possible in the first place, bottom line, if it's possible, I want it! Regardless of whether or not it is possible I will be completely crushed and disappointed if there is no VOIP functionality. It may or may not have been discussed, confirmed and or denied already, I must apologize, I haven't been on the forums since they forced everyone to re-make accounts and some one took my Typhus name! In addition to VOIP I would also be disappointed if there was no form of direct voice chat, similar to Arma's direct. I want to be able to hear team mates as well as enemies hootin' and hollerin! Have separate voice chat channels or even separate PTT keys, I care not, but give us direct!
