Building on what someone said earlier I'd really like to be able to carry a banner into battle. Not just carry it and place it, but actually be able to swing it at people (like Halo's capture the flag moments). The standard is a source of pride y'know.
I think I mentioned this in another thread but Mini-Games. Gotta have Mini-Games. The Tyranid races might actually be a good one though.
I don't see this mechanic as being useless, rather I see it as an integral part of the downed man mechanic. I would hope the current 1 to 2 second revive we're seeing in pre Alpha will be bumped up a few seconds now that medics are being implemented, you would think the Medic revive would be faster than a non medic revive. Add to the fact that a 1 or 2 second revive is just damned cheesy. If an Astartes or Ork is downed, both of which can absorb a metric shit ton of physical damage before being downed, you'd think it's going to take more than 1 or 2 seconds to get them back in the fight. Even dedicated healers in MMOs don't revive as fast as we're seeing in EC's pre Alpha. In Battlefield 4 as a Medic you have to take out the paddles, charge them up, then activate them while aiming them at the downed man, which is hit or miss sometimes. Usually about 5 seconds minimum. Again, about twice as long of a revive time as we're seeing in EC. The fact that EC's current revive is extremely fast for an MMO, and extremely fast for a Shooter, not to mention it's a non medic/healer revive in 1 to 2 seconds, you can''t help but conclude the revive times in Eternal Crusade need to be increased. So if/when we see a more believable or "not cheesy" revive time for Eternal Crusade, the next thing to consider is who in their right mind is going to charge out into totally open ground, and while under enemy fire... stand there in the open stationary for 5 to 8 seconds to revive a fallen team mate. Personally I'd rather have the ability to drag that downed team mate to the nearest cover, then execute the revive sequence.
Features I want? Well, no. Space Marines don't dance. That is what most people use to defend their opinion that there should be no dancing in EC. So no dancing space marines. Give us a dance-emote for the classier guys and leave the space marines out of it. It is hardly against the lore for everyone else. Also, carry-mechanic like discussed above I would hope them not to be useless though
That whould also be cool, it would meybe not be the greatest weapon (since it is a banner) but it could have somekind of special excecution where you at the end stab the person to the ground with the banner and people around you will get a buff ore the enemy whould get a debuff since it is a hit on the morale to see a teammate with an enemy banner through his head P.S. I know the things here needed to be useless things, but this thing could also be without the buffs, but with ore without buff it whould still look cool
Semantics or not... pretty sure in WoW's 10 year history Blizzard has yet to do a cat ears hat, for the record. Cat Ears headbands are part of "kawaii" cultural expression, which Blizzard has made an active stance to avoid touching, while you'd see it pretty much in any MMO with an "Asian stereotype" motif or Korean/Japanese MMOs, you'll never see anything of it's sort in "western settings only" MMOs or MMOs that take themselves seriously (like Dungeons and Dragons Online or Lord of the Rings Online for example). Just thought I'd clear that up for you... The only western association with "cat ears" is associated directly with Cat Woman and the Cat Woman style in relation to Halloween costumes. But who knows, they might do cat ears one day... Also for the record you can get away with cool accessories, so long as their lore abidance, proof in point, look at Star Wars Galaxies and also Star Wars The Old Republic, more in particular The Old Republic, it's full of vanity items and costumes, all of which are Star Wars lore abiding. If anything, we'd likely see things like Servo Skull, Fenrisian Wolves, Gyrinx, Warp Spawn and Squig pets. Fully lore friendly... In all seriousness, I personally wouldn't mind seeing in game name Titles and not just any old easily obtainable titles or the boring old "Founder" title either. Actually hard to obtain titles, like MMOs used to have, I remember back in the mid 2000s getting a title next to your name meant something. In WoW back in the old days, you could only get a title via 3 ways, PvP ranking rewards, completing end game chain quest Or Defeating really hard content as part of a chain quest. I'd like to see titles that when people see you with them, know you're a bad ass because they are difficult to obtain. Lets formulate a comprehensive list of things which are lore friendly but vanity, starting with holidays: Candlemas, Lamas Day, Emperor's Day, Yule, Feast of the Emperor's Ascension, Feast of St. Josmine The Feast of the Emperor's Ascension would be 55 days after the beginning of the Siege of Terra which began on 2 Segundus (Feb 2 - Ground Hog Day) which would be March 29 Emperor's Day would be like Christmas, so I assume it's Dec 25. Candlemas is 2 Feb (also the day the Siege of Terra began) Lammas Day is Aug 1 Yule is Dec 21 (the Winter Solstice on Earth) I have no idea when St. Josmine's day is. Also for the purpose of keeping people who dislike "non-grim dark" and "silly WoW stuff" out of the way of the battle of Arkhona; Such things as these would be more appropriately restricted to your personal quarters / guild hall etc on board your ship in orbit. Out of sight, out of mind and in a location which serves no other purpose than that of role-playing, training and visual interest.
So Blizzard is trying to avoid asian stereotypes you say? And then they release Pandas as a playable race? I seriously, no shit, thought I was watching a spoof the first time I saw a commercial for WoW's Mists of Panda-something-ia.
Some crafting/requisition system in the FireFall/Warframe model. Customizable weapon glows/particle affects. Communications from the named leaders of the 13th Black Crusade giving out the Primary/Secondary objectives. Ship-borne collectible NPC entourages. Pets, slaves, automatons etc. Vehicle executions. Executions for the larger Tyranid NPCs. Being able to pull Assault Bike doughnuts. Horns on the vehicles. Especially Ork and Eldar ones. Exterior and adjustable view of deep strike vehilces falling through the atmosphere. Halo-Dropping Assault units that have that too ^
Sorry to brake topic, you can make all the speculations as to why they suddenly did a 180 and broke their ethical principles on their stance with the "Panda race" after for years saying they won't make them; Who knows what Blizzard is willing to do, they have on multiple occasions gone back on things they promised. For example, they said they were never going to have Death Knights in WoW in 2004 Blizz Con. Heh... All I know is, they seem to no longer hold themselves to that ethical boundary apparently. My own theory has to do with the combination of the project lead and the design lead for the game and over the 10 years Blizzard has gone though 3 of each and each time a new person was brought on board, they threw out the window the principles, vision, story and direction of the game from that of the previous persons, you could go as far to suggest that includes their ethical standpoints. Very few remain of the original WoW team, even that of the team who worked on BC. Anyway... moving on.
