  1. Necrons could be great fun rolling out a:

    Triarch
    Lord
    Cryptek
    Destroyer

Set up; would be nice to see some playable Robots in a game for once (Curse you SWTOR!!! WHY WON'T YOU LET ME BE A DROID!!!!!!)

While I would very much agree with you that it'd be fun to play as a droid in a game like this (I did enjoy Star Wars Battlefront for just that reason), it would be difficult to fit their basic mechanics into the game. Randomly coming back from the dead, without help, sounds like a terrible idea in a game such as this.

That being said, if they made it work I'd happily take a Necron for a spin.

  3. Ignoring a potential racial "we will rise again" style rule it Necrodermis can be easily achieved by a higher base damage resistance and base health regen. It can also function as a random like 2% chance to automatically revive yourself from the downed state after "leaving combat".
  4. Domilyus Schlifer Prefectus

So judging by the polls perhaps we should be satisfied with these four races instead?

Silly, silly Araghast. No one is ever satisfied with anything...

At least that's what my brief stint as a fast-food cashier taught me.

I seriously want a widespread survey to be sent out regarding this poll, i wish to see the major percentage of it all.

As an avid Necron player the idea of running around as one of them does have me barely holding back a Lovecraftian giggle. But the practicle part of me has to acknowledge that they're much better suited as one HARD as nails NPC race. You could call them the antithesis of the Tyranids, not great swarms but small squads, individual units that seriously put the fear of the Emperor in your soul (of course as always beware the Carnifex). This implacable force that just keeps on returning, using tactics and strategy developed millions of years ago, with plans so inscrutable an arcane it's worrisome. A single Deathmark is something you never want to be caught alone with. A Phaeron with Lychguard accompanyment is cause enough for entire armies to set aside their differences temporarily and forge a brief alliance.

I see the Necrons as an excellent tool for the Devs where necessary, something rather nasty (spanner wise) to throw into a campaign and see how the warfront develops.

Of course if there is a way the Devs count get the Necrons into the game (hint bribe hint), I won't be complaining :D
  8. The problem with polls regarding who should/shouldn't be playable is they're hampered by firstly the coloured eyes of fans who will always swear their chosen faction is the only possible good choice to include and that they are only representative of the vocal minority and not representative of the entire playership. It'd be best waiting to see who comes when based on bE's judgement in regards to which race "feels right" for the games current state of development.

    Raid level bosses eh?

A simple way to include Imperial Guard would be for us to control a squad of guardsman much like a multiboxer in other MMO's. There will be 5 guys, each counting as "one" hitpoint for the total of 5 (which is an arbitrary number I made up, but for simplicity's sake I'll just assume the normal space marine character also has 5 hit points). The centre guy will be the PoV character that we control, and when shot one of the other four will "Look out, Sir!" and die in his place.

You can also choose to outfit each of the troops with their own weapon, so it adds a bit of variety and customization, as well as giving a bit of flavour to the Imperial Guard in that they can customize different weapons firing at once, as opposed to switching between weapons, not to mention that the Guard character gets weaker with each hit point (Guardsmen) it loses. There will be some tweaking necessary to get the proper balance, but this is at least closer to fluff and still retains the "sledgehammer of the Imperium" feel.
  10. I vote either Necrons or Tau. IG may be hard to balance since they focus so heavily on vehicles, SoB are pretty similar to SM/CSM, and Tyranids are supposedly a big part of the PvE content.
