Yeah AMD just cant seem to handle Unreal4 stuff as well as Intel, especially at this point with no optimization. I had the same problem as OP, MMO's rely more on your CPU than GPU for a lot of tasks, hence why the more players in the game the worse the performance gets. Thankfully I've just built a new Intel based system, same AMD GPU I had before, but the switch in CPU has taken me from 6-12 fps to 40-50 fps. There's unfortunately no quick fix before optimization, just the way things are in an Alpha.
I wonder if it has something to do with the cloth physics. They are the only faction to use this at the moment correct?
My AMD R9 200 handle the game pretty well(above 30 FPS in almost all issues). So its possible with them at least.
my CPU etc is fine as far as matches are concerned contaning chaos versus space marine ..... its only when i have matches versus Eldar that it becomes a problem. So its safe to say its something todo with them and NOT my hardware
Same issue here. I'm usually getting around 20 fps vs chaos, and around 5 fps vs eldar. All my settings are low. Other games that came out recently run well for me at stable 60 fps on medium settings. I'm using an ATI 6970. Kind of old card, but I should be able to get 60fps on the lowest settings at least.
My issues stem from the CPU rather than the GPU. One of the major offenders currently is the Warlocks robes that use the physix system. One day we will get more optimizations that will fix some of the issues but right now they need to focus more on getting the races and weapons in and working then we will see more stuff to help the game run better.
