Right, I did see the interest from the Mechanicus, but I figured I'd wait for the character sheets to be official and all before I'd come bothering. Glad to see the Priesthood of Mars will be involved. Alright, assuming everyone is alright with this, I'll get a PM going, so we can figure out the details of this formal gathering.
I have not yet read Legion, but I finished the first draft of the character sheet. The name is still undecided. If anyone has suggestions feel free to tell me. I know wait for the approval or rejection. If possible I would add some grenades and maybe a sidearm. Spoiler: Character Name: Sabios Dormerro Primary weapon: Phobos pattern bolter which was modified to look like a Godwyn bolter. Sabios has different magazines of specialised ammunation aside from the normal rounds: Hellfire, Kraken and Tempest rounds. The rounds were stolen aquired from Imperial depots as they are difficult to produce without the infrastructure the Alpa Legion lacks. He also has few magazines of Metal Storm rounds, although those are not replacable, as they are from the time before the Heresy. As the bolter is no Sternguard pattern, Sabios has to switch the magazines manually, if he wants to fire with different ammunition. Secondary Weapon: Proteus power sword and power dagger Grenades: Smoke grenades Flash grenades Monoball grenades (only 2, because terribly difficult to restock) Psyk-out grenades (only 2, because terribly difficult to restock) Krak grenades (as melta bombs are to unwieldy) The weapons are the standard equipment. As every high ranking Space Marine Sabios has an armoury with diverse weapons and armours collected over the centuries of service. Appearance: Sabios is a little bit taller and broader as an average Space Marine. His head is shaved and he has blue eyes. He usually wears a blue Mark IV Power Armour with a Cameoline cloak and the Legions insignia. On the inside of the armour are runes carved with the goal to repel psychic and chaotic influences. Personality: Sabios was a joyous and loyal legionaire. He enjoyed fighting in the Great Crusade and the company of his brothers. This changed after the defeat of Horus and the end of the Heresy. He asked himself for what he betrayed his oath. In the following years he spend less and less time with his brothers and lost himself in his thoughts when not in combat or on missions. At the present day he remains more often silent than not. History: Sabios was born on Terra. He served in different head hunter kill teams. Then came the order to switch sides. Unsure of Alpharius reasons, he trusted him and fought against those who he had formerly known as brothers. The war was lost and Sabios spend his time fighting against what was left of the empire without a perspective. During that time he started to doubt Alpharius reasoning and started to search for the reasons Alpharius had. He found out about the Cabal and that their plan was to destroy humanity to defeat Chaos. Having still unanswered questions he now tries to find a member of the Cabal to ask those. His search for answers has given him a comprehensive knowledge of the warp (for a chaos space marine that is no spyker).
Name: Nurrahk, Phaeron of the Rahmzen Dynasty Titles & Nicknames: " Arbiter", " Lord Arbiter ", Necris ( Failed translation by the Imperium ) Race: Necrontyr ( Formerly), Necrons ( Currently ) Rank: Overlord - Phaeron Primary Weapon: Blade of Rahmzen ( Unique Warscythe ) - The "Blade of Rahmzen" is a unique Warscythe of peerless craftsmanship and make. Commissioned shortly after the great Bio-Transference and utilized in the War in Heaven, the Blade of Rahmzen is an incredibly ancient yet undeniably potent blade. The weapon serves as both the implementation of Nurrahks' will and as a symbol of office. Were it to be lost or stolen, Nurrahk would burn sectors and bleed whole planets dry just to reacquire it. Secondary Weapon: Tachyon Arrow - The Tachyon Arrow is an ancient weapon utilized by Nurrahk and a select few within his dynasty. As with the arrows of other Dynasties, the weapon can turn a sliver of metal into a bolt of hyper-penetrating ability. It is said that not even titans are infallible against its might. Appearance: Nurrahk stands at a menacing ten and a half feet in height. As with all Necrons, Nurrahk is both skeletal and machine in standard appearance. What separates Nurrahk from the commoners is the detail and work put into said body. Every detail on his form is painstakingly rendered and immune to the ravages of time. Sitting upon the Phaerons head is a crest like ornamentation that mimics an ancient crown or kings regalia. Situated upon his shoulders are armored pauldrons that, like the "crown" are actually part of their owner. A scaled cape descends from said pauldrons, it's length allowing its end to touch and drag along the floor. Thick armored arms end in clawed hands that, despite the air of royalty about him, reveal the true purpose of his being: War. Finally, emblazoned upon the chest, forehead, and cape is the Ankh of the Triarch. Personality: Nurrahks' personality can best be described in only a few words. Bold, Decisive, and Vindicated fit the bill best. Nurrahk believes himself set to a higher standard than most including the people of other races. This is mainly due to his immortality and the outlook it affords him. He's been alive longer than and experienced more than most. The current state of the galaxy disgusts him and that is what drives him to act as a silent judge of sorts. If anyone, necrons included, seem to step beyond their bounds, Nurrahk will act accordingly as Judge, Jury, and Executioner if need be. While he cannot "correct" much at the moment due to his recent awakening, he uses the fact he's immortal to bide his time. One day, when his people are united, those worthy of punishment will be brought to trial. In addition to his rather vindicated outlook, Nurrahk is not beyond the concepts of honor and brotherhood. That said, the notion only applies to fellow Necrons. History: Nurrahk was, like the other Overlords, one of the Necrontyr in a time long since passed. Nurrahk willingly gave his life and his very soul over to the C'tan in exchange for their "immortality". While many were horrified by the results, Nurrahk was ecstatic due to the fact that, despite the loss of his soul, he was now immortal and quite able to bring justice upon the Old Ones. During the War in Heaven, Nurrahk fought alongside with and eventually betrayed the C'tan as the Silent King had ordered. Weakened from the war, the Necrons went into stasis while lesser races would go on to dominate the galaxy. Eons would pass before Nurrahk would be awoken from slumber. Rahmzen Prime, the crown jewel of his dynasty, was settled upon by humans. A fledgling community under the Imperiums stretched-thin gaze had risen up upon his lands. Necris willed his tomb-worlds systems to life and those systems went to work on dispatching the intruders. Settlements went dark in the middle of the night and when others went to investigate, they simply found nothing. Soon enough, the tomb-worlds automated systems ramped up their efforts as the Humans did the same. Scarab attacks quickly escalated into terror attacks perpetrated by wraiths, and those eventually gave way to small detachments of warriors. Within a standard week, all life had been eradicated and the world reclaimed. Nurrahk knew that whomever settled there would undoubtedly return at some point. It was at this point that Nurrahk knew he would need to return to the material world fully. At this point, fellow Phaerons were already up and about in the galaxy. Simply put, Nurrahk was behind schedule. Having set the rest of his Vassals on a path to reawaken the other worlds in the Dynasty, Nurrahk now heeds the call of another. Some affliction is infecting Tomb Worlds at large and, as the old ways and honor dictate, Nurrahk is bound to lend assistance. ( I recently went through some rewrites so this lore isn't a 100% yet. It's also a skeleton of what I actually have. ) Vassals: Rahk'Aterom - Cryptek - Plasmancer - Gaze of Flame and Eldritch lance Dra'Keth - Lychguard - Hyperphase Sword and Dispersion Shield
Looks like it's time to create List of Characters thread, you may still post or edit your characters here but I'm starting to add established and finished heroes in a separate thread so that you see who is present. And yes, even "finished" characters can be edited unless we have Eldar and Dark Eldar and the game begins
Alright, this is a small poll purpose of which is to know how all of you would prefer to travel, there are two variants, both of them interesting to me and equal in opportunities they provide for characters interactions: 1. All characters travel on the Alpha Legion's battle barge occupying different compartments of the ship. 2. Each faction has its own space craft (only one and not too big, since we dont plan a massive invasion into the Eye of Terror) and each vessel is operated by NPCs crew members. In the first case our characters will meet each other quite often, in the second case they will get aboard fellow vessels on occasions but stay mainly on their own ships. Personally I would prefer the second variant because I had in mind some ideas concerning interdimensional travelling. Eldar travel only through the Webway, Imperials through the Warp, Necrons through their own dimensions and if, say, Eldar space craft is crippled they will literally be forced to make a warp jump aboard an imperial vessel - or vice versa imperials can be brought upon an Eldar ship and go straight into the Webway. So I'm listening your opinions. @kanila @Wata @Avenging-Angel @TechCaptain @BruticusTheGoreHound @High_Adept_Zeth @Aedric @ZceeNook @TuskatheDaemonKilla @Schalli @GoreWrencha @Veneriah
Having everyone on the same compartment would make spying a lot easier. Especially if it is an Alpha Legion ship. I also would like to have some conversations between my character and others. On the other hand I also like the idea of the different travel mechanisms. So I vote for number two, which means we will have to be more creative to communicate in secret. Also looking at all those Necron tachyon arrows my weaponry feels a little bit inadequate.
Option 2! Otherwise I'll be shooting a lot of NPC Alpha Legion! Also how did our characters get 'collected' for this task? We're we sought out by the leader? Or did they seek aid and asked for volunteers? Trying to find the thread that binds the characters.
I can't see Imperials ever actually peacefully riding along within an Alpha Legion vessel, the hatred for traitors is way too ingrained into their nature at this point. Option 2 seems a better possibility, if only to offer the factions privacy from one another, and keep the infighting relatively lower.
Agree about spying, this is an important factor. Yes, there will be conversations with characters from other factions, on occasions you will be often brought to the other characters' ships. In this case each faction will get its own ship equipped with a small NPC crew. If you feel your weaponry inadequate, you can always correct it until the game begins - besides, in case of necrons, they can make neseccary weaponized augmentations at any time in my opinion . This is the most complicated part I'm currently thinking about - I need to study personality of each character to come up with a realistic thread and until every character is submitted this is hard - say, what brings your commissar together with a skitarii warrior, tech-priest and a space marine and how the hell can they possibly agree to join the Eldar Phoenix Lord's cause ? As for imperials, for example, I thought of an ambitious tech-priest sent by Mars' rulers for an artefact and he is accompanied by a space marine, skitarii soldier and a commissar as "bodyguards" - space marine was assigned by his chapter and a commissar wishes to restore his damaged reputation. They were captured by Alpha legionnaires and brought to their barge by force for negotiations which were eventually successful (there is no other way all of you could agree to talk to traitors ). Something like that, I need all characters to think of a realistic plot. The only thing I know for now is that Tandreus will bring all of you together because such cunning scheming is not Jain Zar's forte (and I think imperials' hatred towards xenos is much stronger than towards traitor space marines), she will negotiate only with Dark Eldar (if someone will play for them). And onlу afterwards, when there will be literally no way back, all factions will be openly introduced to each other, at the beginning you wont even know of each other - this is true Alpha Legion's style.
Red Graham McNeill's "Forge of Mars" trilogy? There were Black Templars (!) fighting along side Eldar (!!) defending with their lives a farseer who had actually killed their champion several decades ago (!!!) - everything is possible if circumstances are hard enough for both sides
