Strategy means nthing if your troops dont have the discipline to follow them, also the angery marines and ultrasmurf would like to have a word with you about the importance of looking badass while kicking some ass
Eh not really. White scars, space wolves, salamanders, and black templars, are proof against that. Tell me how much "discipline" those guys have. (none) Yet they are fairly successful chapters (Especially the space wolves) War and combat is not so much glittery looks and nitpicking unimportant things like how clean your armor is so long as you GET SHIT DONE. When you care about nothing but stupid things and call it discipline you become brainwashed and naive about what to really do. In the real world, an army like the ultramarine would be a waste of time since they could never adapt to new situations, where armies like space wolves and white scars could. It's ok. I won't tell the craftworld if you don't.
The wolves spend a majority of their training "disciplining" their new bloods, the others do the same abit to a lesser degree so idk what you mean when you say they have none. Also in WH40K you better clean and polish that armor and weapon least the machine spirit (AI with a temper) decide you know that you haven't cleaned me today so i am not gona use your armor system 100% effectively / jam your bolter. Also i didn't called those thing discipline i said that discipline is important and not " omg no one cares about discipline" In a real world space wolves would becom eco warriors and white scars would be bike gangs..
Did you really just suggest that space wolves, a chapter where it is perfectly fine to drink while on duty, have discipline? Or that Salamanders, a chapter that purposely burn themselves on a daily basis, have discipline? Yes have you read the novels? have you?. Space wolves drink sure but so do the blood angles (abit some form of blood/chems) on the battlefield or before a battle. As for the salamanders they have the discipline to follow their code of behavior/beliefs and they don't do that during the battle. The BT are just special angry marines wana be who still have enoufgh disipline to not just all charge into the eye of terror all at once all the time. Ya wana see lack of discipline look no further then the angry marine or your average/new LSm player.
Space Wolves might seem undisciplined to those at a cursory glance and at an individual level the younger/newer marines can be, but the older wolves tend to show a great deal of it even under their predatory guise. They wouldn't be a constant threat to the enemies of the Imperium or have survived as long as they have had they no discipline under the gruff exterior. Now, that isn't to say they can't get into some crazy stuff and aren't prone to be pretty hot headed. They're rough around the edges but you could level the same accusation at most of the chapters (on the surface you'd think Dark Angels were disciplined until the Fallen are taken into account). Not everyone is the Ultramarines but that's just one way of fighting. Black Templar though.....yeah.
As i said the BT are "special" wanabes. You cant deny that they have some form of it tho other wise theyd all be dead by now due to charged into eye of terror for the emporer despite knowing the thruth.
