The new lascannon is pretty much the same one as the orks have. Can anyone confirm if it pierces cover? If so I think I know a way to make them more useful, which is to remove the need to have a target in your crosshairs in order to fire.
Well at least it serves a purpose then. And the only ones I think might be killed in one shot would be eldar. At least based on naked jump assault and painboy hp+armor. Bump up the cooldown after a shot is taken or even lower the damage. Make it a weapon to flush the enemy out of cover rather than to outright kill. As it stands its use is too circumstantial to warrant bringing it for any reason other than to test it.
Isn't that what people already do with the lascannon though? Hide behind something, poke the barrel around the corner and try and pick someone off? You'd at least survive the shot to move away from cover if the theoretical cover piercing lascannon had a long cooldown after firing.
Eh...inching the corner of your lascannon around a corner doesn't exactly feel like exposing yourself but I supposed I can see where you're coming from. And people pretty much already use the lascannon as a oneshot sniper weapon. If you have a suggestion on how to make the piercing las/zapkannon viable I'd like to hear it.
@jbregg with the rework you're doing on promethium mine, considered adding those "puff smoke/dust-clouds" (like you put on the balcony at B on carmine ascent) around the map, to break up the long-range-camp meta and incessant amount of swooping hawks the map gets? Would be a nice form of "soft-cover"
The others have answered the 'Umie Fryer question, but that was why I was suggesting making them not lockon dependent with a long cooldown between shots and letting them pierce cover. Could also drop their damage down to 100. I'd just like them to be more viable than they currently are.
