I mean all the free shit csm and lsm gets with comparable loadouts while ranged heals are way better on csm side its obviously that lsm is weaker. the only thing that lsm has which is an actual advantage is idustiral plasmapistol and shields on melee classes.
It will hit Chaos just as hard if not harder. Orks would be a problem but without Orks, that problem is entirely hypothetical. The Boltgun is over-performing! You can bullshit around that issue all you want, I would even go so far to say there is no mathematical reason for it. But if the one and only, competitive guild along with literally each and every top-player uses this as their weapon of choice in every scenario, something is going very wrong. If one, single asset is too strong, you have exactly two ways to approach this subject: -Buff everything else. (also known as 'powercreep') -Nerf this asset. You can argue about how this nerf should be implemented. Personally, the first thing I would have worked with is the clip-capacity. Easy way to hard-cap you to one or two kills/mag after that you have to disengage to reload. Same reason why the ASC will never be OP. But moving spread is the secondary issue, its too good and it has to change. SIPS is one way to go about it, I agree that working with mods might have served the same purpose better. As for the DPS, I don't see it making a difference at all, whether or not this 'nerf' is justified I find controversial, but the idea that everyone is going to run Plasrifles now is just laughable! The new Boltgun still outperforms the Plasma by far, the only thing that changes is that there might now be a valid consideration to take something else. Actually, I wouldn't even be surprised if a new meta emerged, even one that turn out to be even more powerful and unbalanced. That is something I have seen in games a lot, that balance changes drive people to get creative and make the game worse short-term. But, if that happens, we will fix the new problem until everything works out fine. Two things tho: 1) The old Debash needs to come back! I am saying that as a player who would like to play melee but simply can't bear the cancer of the current system. There needs to be a better way to do this. 2) I would love to see much more, much bigger changes happening a lot faster. I mostly like the status quo of the game but its starting to get stale and, since new content is hard to make, I don't see the harm in playing around with the existing content to see, if we can't make things even better.
The bolter is meant to be the most common weapon on both Chaos & Loyalists - because the other weapons are EXCLUSIVELY special weapons, this is something GW mandated back in the day and is part of the reason why the bolter received spread reductions in hipfire. I mean, I don't see you complaining that the TLASC is overperforming because it is the meta gun for Dire Avengers? The issue is not that the bolter is overperforming, it's that the other weapons do not have a defined role. I'd argue that the only weapon LSM tacticals have that is not a bolter that actually functions in its intended role is the Stalker - the Stormbolter does not have enough DPS increase nor the accuracy to be viable at close range, the plasma gun overheats too fast for the damage it outputs and the grav/melta guns are exclusively AV/support tools. The weapons on tactical are fine, it does not need a nerf for crying out loud. If you want anything changed, buff plasma to deal more damage with this overheat so its actually worth using despite the 14 shot overheat, buff the stormbolter's hipfire accuracy slightly and DPS noticeably but leave the bolter's hipfire accuracy as is, to make it more of a CQC weapon and beef up the grav gun against elites significantly - at least double what it is now. I'm not surprised that someone who exclusively plays power fist has no idea about faction balance.
That would fix one problem outta two. The pinpoint-accuracy of a hipfiring Bolter is a problem on its own. It is not 'skill' to gun your way through the entire, enemy team, killing everything that gets in your way, its bad balance. It simply should not be possible, ever! What we would need, in your solution, is buff Heavy Weapons until they can perform similarly to the old Tempest: lock down an area, completely destroy any lone-wolves that try to take this position head on. That I could agree with. However, I am not so sure if that solution is really 'better' than just nerfing the Boltgun. Its not like buffing or changing other assets its mutually exclusive. We are doing this, right now, as one of the more pressing issues, and do other stuff later.
Bolters arent over performing , the mods on it are Bolter is fine , its the specialized weapons that are trash More/rework mods for weapons + buff to specialized weapons = problem solved nerfing everything is just stupid
I mean yeah, you can gun down your way through an entire team of shit players, but anyone good will blast you. It is statistically impossible to gun down an entire team of players that aren't shit shots or brain dead, which most of EC's playerbase are. You should look at how well Leroy does in a competitive environment - against good players, he can get a few frags but trying to pull of 'epic montage attacks' where he tries to take on an entire team head-on will get him killed, and you can always win an outnumbered fight with superior use of cover in a third person shooter so I mean if people just rush you while you're in cover landing headshots on them then yeah no shit they're gonna get rekt. The issue is not that the Bolter is overperforming, it's that the special weapons are underperforming. Why is a plasma gun only like 0.080ms faster TTK than a bolter against 160 toughness orks yet overheats in like 14 shots?
I'd agree if ALL the old heavy weapons were brought to their own glory-days respectively. HB, PC and AC included. But to your earlier post, agree with everything except the d-bash thing.. even more so with the new bolter. More d-bash stun time now would be certain death vs the new bolter from imminent headshot focus. If you bring back the old d-bash, you have a d-bash lasting long enough for ttk of the bolter hs to be less than the stun duration, which is an astronomically idiotic idea to reimplement for reasons that should be pretty god damn obvious. Unless the d-bash was directly tied to being required to have the pistol & knife equipped to be able to do, it cannot happen in a manner that does not result in d-bash hs spam. If however the new bolter is implemented and correspondingly a melee change is put in that requires you to manually equip pistol&knife to be able to do melee at all, that'd be a different topic, and remove the "quick response" melee by just pressing the melee keybinds.
