So I barely ever see the mark of Tzeentch around and have been screwing around with it to maybe find a decent build for people to try out. Here's my first successful build I've been playing around with called Pure Sorcery: I've got a normal force sword with a warp regen mod on it, mark of tzeentch of course which reduces health but increases armor regen by a truck load, evil eye pendant for +35 charge, I decided to max out my charge benefits by putting the two spell casting trinkets and since I had some points left over went with more armor regen. Could also be stamina regen if you prefer not a huge deal. Hell, I could even see dumping all the trinkets for a grenade or pistol if you wanted. It's fairly flexible. Spells are Boon of Change with Deamonbolt. My playstyle with this is to be as active as possible and drive-by spam the boon to help my team mates survive a little longer or revive them while I can attack someone. Deamonbolt started out as a funny experiment but I've honestly fell in love with it. Maybe it's just because there are so many newbies around and Deamonbolt is a rarity to see but I can decimate teams with it. Shoot at walls, pop out from corners, or even fire into a fray. It's a great support spell to bomb unsuspecting doofs. Of course the draw back is I'm squishy as hell but with careful positioning and just never standing in one place I can stay alive for most of the match while getting tons of heals off without stopping. My next experiment will be trying to find a good tratior loadout to be able to use the range buff totem. I just would like to see more variety in Chaos load outs with Tzeentch being the least used. So, if any of you boys have been messing around with it share your builds with me!
I've been running with Force Sword, medium armour, Mark of Tzeentch, Evil Eye Pendant, Foul Regeneration and Flickering Fire. That's 1000 points, so you don't get anything else. A lot of people have mentioned some sort of issue or bug with Flickering Fire, but I rather enjoy it. It has a pretty decent range. Doesn't get many kills, but does get a lot of assists. I've been looking at a build recently which is Force Sword, medium armour, Mark of Tzeentch, Epliso Bolt Pistol (or whatever it's called - the three shot burst one), Boon of Change and +1 Stamina. Not had a chance to play about with it yet though.
Yeah Deamonbolt was originally flickering fire in my build but it sucks. Barely tickles enemies and even if I spam it at them it seems to barely matter. Add in the fact rolling can mitigate some damage from the fire it's just not worth it.
I quite like it, but you're right enough. I can dump 10 FF hits on my target and they'll still at best die 4-5 seconds later from the DoT. Considering this Bolt Pistol whose name I can't recall costs the same and can drop 3 rounds into the target for between 60 and 150 damage (depending on range and headshots) in about a third of a second and maybe 6 rounds in a second for up to borderline kill levels of damage - hardly seems worthwhile. Though Flickering Fire will probably still have the superior range. There's nothing quite like popping it onto a target half the map away on a Fortress and seeing them panic and scarper to cover. Even though you know you're never killing them, it's still highly entertaining. Edit: FF is a lot more useful than Daemonbolt for melee too. Soften your target up and make them panic with FF, then close in and finish them off with a couple of melee swings. Good times.
A few Tzeentch tip's for ya lads. Getting the tzeentch wargear Evil eye pendent for 150 Lps is often not worth it over taking mastercrafted force sword ( + 15 energy) for only a 100 LPs more than a normal Force sword. Always put warp regen mod on your force sword it only costs 30 LPs and gives higher regen than Collar of the Sheer, this single mod is all you ever need for energy regen in most situations. ^Should still be in effect Getting A Shard of Heretic can give you an extra survival boost with its 15% faster stamina regen for only 50 LPs. it synergises well with the ducking in and out of cover to regain the armor shield . FF spell is simply not worth it in its current state. for 150 LP's its only advantage is also one of its many disadvantages. And that is that it has infinite ammo because you regen warp power over time. but it also uses the same pool your healing spells do,which can get you killed. A bolt pistol + ammo kit costs only 100 LPs has higher upfront dps than FF it just has limited ammo. which if you play right should be a non issue because you can get enough chances to restock during the battle) I personally only take ammo kit when doing Pve and just run with a bolt pistol.. dem free exps ! Another good option instead of FF is a plasma pistol also for 150 LPs with the advancement mastery.
The reason that you are not seeing mark of Tzeentch very often, is because the Life penalty is too harsh, on an already low TTK environemt. There's nothing really relevant to hold on to Tzeentch. Poke n Shoot fights no longer exist....you will most likely die, before you return to cover, due to "latency". It is more likely you'll die from having less 30hp, than surviving because your armor regens faster. When it comes to sorcers, you are just enphasysing a squishier class, with more squish squish. Tzeentch powers are shit, and any pistol will outperform flickering fire. Even shuriken pistol is better than flickering fire. When it comes to heal, even though it might sound fun the "drop n Forget", the heal rate is relatively slow, compared to what grenades heal. All other heals take priority over yours. ( if somone is using Standard heal, or nurgle heal, your heal goes to background, and you don't get points from it ). You can't Self revive, like grenades can....even though the buff should still be there even after you are downed... The bonus charges you get from pendants, don't really make much difference, and are too costly in terms of LP. I guess that sums up why you don't see much tzeentch around. Mostly fans, will use Tzeentch mark. In terms of gameplay bonus, it's more of a handicap than a bonus
I don't know what game you are playing but poke and shoot is alive and well. I was thinking plasma gun would be a great pairing with the mark but that thing is pretty underwhelming. At least the blob shots are. Why did they slow them down so much? Boon of change is a great active heal spell to use, as in, you use it on your team mates before a fight not after. Being able to walk around spamming HoTs on everyone is a great way to help keep them alive longer. Afterwards I can pick up a whole squad easily with one burst then can work on securing the area while they are getting up. It definitely needs some love but I think the big reason nobody bothers with it is because of the mark's penalty which I do admit makes it challenging. I like that though I was getting bored with the other heal spells/marks. Evil eye is very much worth taking if your plan is to spam spells like I do. Being able to do back to back daemonbolts comes in handy. Though I think the pendant is only worth it with the Tzeentch bonus.
Last time I checked putting a MoT on a Sorcerer with no upgraded armor makes it so one strong attack from an unmodded Combat Knife brings down not only all your armor but also leaves you with only 1/3rd of your health. That about sums up why you rarely see MoT. You need a high armor value or it's just a voluntary nerf. Still kinda is imo.
no the damage won't stick ppl will just heal with their supports. you think you contribute anything when he is dancing around a healing nade ? the answer would be no.
I've been playing this game since it's been playable and I never really touched CSM because it felt like an overpowered version of LSM (it really was until healing grenades TBH). I made a character and used absolutely nothing but MoT until rank 5. I mean nothing. I started as the default sorcerer and made a new loadout at rank 2 with MoT and haven't looked back. It's a gameplay style to look into. I turned to TA to make it work but it took a bit. Here's my default loadout though: And for TA, when I play it: You are essentially given two key options. Either you survive enough from one burst to react and recover, or you constantly weave between the enemy/cover so you can recover while you're dueling (shieldbro just don't kill me due to the armor regen time being essentially a D bash charge time). My elite is where I get my bread and butter, though: It takes some getting used to, but I make it work. Quick reactions let you get back into the fight relatively fast, and it definitely has its own perks.
