Im looking to for some advice on which army to pick. Both armies have their merits but i cant decide. Im looking for an army that can be conpetitive but also i can use for fun games. Im not really sure whoch army is better at that. Then it comes to pricing in which i can get large ampunts of tyranids for decent pricing but orks are more costly. Im not really sure which to pick . Please help.

Well you look like an ork fan. If price is a problem what I do is make a list then buy it a model at a time so I don't go over board on costs and then you can make each model look very good. Over time you will have your army then and you wont be broke.
  3. Nids are cool

    Orks are better

    I am horrendously biased

    Take that as it is

  4. Which army would you prefer to paint? It's an important thing to consider, given the investment in time and effort.

I prefer Orks because my roommate plays Orks and they fit him. Yesterday I watched him swarm a bloodthirster with boyz and koptas. It took a few turns but they brought that bastard down with sheer hit magnitude. He won an apocalypse game a while back by using the Da Jump power on the last turn to jump his entire army into our deployment zone, winning the game. He nob bikers are the local deathstar because they're so hard to kill.

nids are cool but Orks are fun because you can win while being really silly.

Not a TT player (yet), but I always found orks more amusing than nyds.
Which is strange since I REALLY like xenomorph (meaning that everything that reminds of them should should be a winner).
However, I think that it may be due to their biological technology where they don't evolve their parts for needs in battle as much as they breed them (and end up being regular weapons with a biological texture instead of slimey xenos that evolve to adapt).
I think it's one of the few things I think Blizzard did a better job than GW, and that is that zergs are better xenomorph-like aliens than tyranids (heresy, I know).

If you want something competitive, Nids. Flyrants all over the place. FLYRANT SPAM! Nids used to be my primary army, I enjoy playing them for fun. Not that strong without certain things(Flyrant spam), but fun.

Orks are very fun, if a bit single minded in builds. You can also make elite armies of Orks that function. Meganobz in a battlewagon can be hilarious in a casual game. But they arent very competitive in the tournament sense. Good and balanced now, with some really neat options for range. They also serve as a great base for conversions if you are up for it.

    Personally, I'd say Orks.
  8. I love both armies but it's gotta be Orks if I had to choose. They're the easiest army to make conversions for and have some of the best looking models in 40k.

    Yeah why the hell not

The red would make it go faster

It's really hard to say to be honest. Especially, now that their prices are like +$10/+$20 now.

The real thing to keep in mind, find an army that you want. That works to you and more importantly is your favorite faction in the game.

For me when I first started off I went with the Nids. As time went on I prefered going for the Chaos marines, I wanted to paint more decals and icons on their armor.

SO again it really boils down to, which army will YOU have more fun with.
