So long as it's merely a color scheme and a name I don't see why not? It might be a splinter fleet off of one of the bigguns that has changed and adapted as time went on. I mean, they encourage the creation of fan-made chapters and hive fleets all the time. Within the roleplays, within the scope of painting an army, etc. Why not try it on a larger scale here?
I like the art contest idea. Community art contest or mini painting contest to see who comes up with the best color scheme for a new Hive Fleet.
I for one say no this game is using recognisable factions and subfactions for all, I don't get why nids shouldn't do the same hive fleet leviathan is the largest fleet around and would explain how the swarm is able to fight and influence the actions of several factions alone we could have a newly named tendril of the leviathan though but considering the absence of the fleet in orbit, presumably because the swarm has been cut off from the main tendril during the middle stage of absorption of the planet (they have a completely functioning subterranean hive after all) I would say that until this swarm builds a new fleet and develop unique features/tactics/strains there's no reason to find a different denomination "arkhona tendril of leviathan" is enough in my opinion
From the pictures used so far it seems like Leviathan is the hive fleet we should be expecting, but I like the idea of something new and customised. It's probably not an issue if we don't get something unique though.
Dear Crusader Matt. Its a great concept and one which we really beleive in: User Generated Content. Now, there is a part of Eternal Crusade that we have kept as secret as would Alpharius and Omegon! The LORE and Background Story of Arkhona which is written by our own Graham McNeill. We hinted about it in the last newsletter when we said that we have many different Kind of Tyranids even if we dont have a Hive fleet close by..... and there is a LORE and Canon reason for it. Actually, in ALL of Eternal Crusade, we have had so far only a very small amount of content/mechanics that is not following the Lore... very very few. Like: Respawn of your caractere and I think that is it for now!! I am sure theire is a few more but we really try to keep it to its minimum. So Crusader Matt, we have plans already for involving the community. I am not certain that the Nids are the right tool for that and I wont know for sure until pre-production is finished since we have to keep an eye on the players PC performance knowing we never want to fail on one of our main pillard: Massive Battle of twitch combats with no lag..... we dont know yet if we will allow the Nids to take part in massive battles between 2 factions in terms of tech..... as well as Gameplay. That means that the ''weight'' (in ressources) for the Tyranids has to be lean... for now.. But we have already plans to have the community works on other stuff in an even bigger way that just modelising a Nid. Right Now Crusader Matt, the whole team and I are focus on the 9 weeks left before we reveal our New website and launch the Founders Program so we will be able to give you more info about this after... which is when we start Production (end of June). 9 weeks... Oh man I'm not going to make it for this game! already to hyped. Also I'm going to have to say no, I feel like with things like founders programs, feed back and what not the players are doing enough, the last thing we need to do is flood them with fan made nids right? you know what they say about to many cooks and what not.
