I'm for the idea if it gets cleared by the big GW. Could have a program similar to this one: http://www.fallensunasylum.org/nids/gauntpainter.html And a competition to see who comes up with the best color scheme/name combo. Ruling judges would be the Devs and possibly the moderators. I actually like this idea, a big community project and whatnot.
There's a very large difference between the Bloody Magpies and just pumping out a new Tendril. For the most part it'd probably just be another way to get the community involved, raise morale and possibly even awareness for the game.
Ahh! my thanks warsmith!, still i know every one loves the classics but it would be cool to see something a bit different maybe not an entire new hive fleet or maybe yes but how about something to add a bit of flavour, like *imperial forces after battling the tyranids of arkhona have discovered and labeled this new breed to be in liege/cousins of hive fleet leviathan/kraken but in a more violent and evolved manner....naming them Leviathan prime/ kraken prime....* Something like that hahaha dont judge me people i just liked the idea very much, a little bit of mindstorms never hurts.
I don't like putting things into players hands they could be exploited. Look at the MA in City of Heroes as an example. Just look at the history of gamers and you will learn they exploit whatever they can. It would be more interesting if they developed with resistances to the most powerful attacks for each character type (by using actual game stats). That puts the nids at odds with what what the players are doing best!
I'm not saying let them mess with stats and gameplay just Color schemes and lore. I for the life of me cannot figure out how this damn thing works.
Open the little book and pick your biomorph, generally Gaunt is the best way to go. Then further off to the right is a color palette
but the blood raven where just a made up chapter created by relic, they had been up to that point a minor chapter mentioned in a white dwarf. Relic just took them and fleshed them out, shining the same light on them that the more well know chapter have. And know pretty much anyone who got into 40k via dawn of war (my self included) know about blood raven probably more then ultra marines, and tho many they our there favorite spaceman chapter, (once again my self included)
Skygrim darkness of the future. On topic: I've always dreamed that 'Nids were so adaptable that after a period of time a splinter could be entirely different from the Hive it split from. Given enough time and resources it would become its own Hive with different markings and evolutions. In this way a new Hive is more of a possibility than a new chapter.
