Considering that Relic layed off and made redundant most of the developers who worked on Dow2, SM and the original Dawn Of War, I'm not sure why people have this belief that they can come back on split second notice and automatically create a godlike game with no problems or failures what so ever, if you look towards Company Of Heroes 2 on of their most recent games you'll find a mess of paying for unbalanced DLC commanders, Twitch advertisements and Esport features, not to mention an exaggerated and uneasy sitting campaign that still manages to be tedious. A game unrecognisable from earlier instalments.

As for the Horus Heresy game, from little acorns do great Oaks grow, the success of numerous small projects will possibly lead to 'people' investing and interested in bigger and riskier instalments whilst keeping the wh40k setting in the gamer's eye. I see alot of people attacking these games for the chief reason that they're on ios, that they're not on PC, that their target audience is at mobile or casual gamers and... There's nothing wrong with that, you still have Eternal Crusade coming out for the PC, Space Hulk games being released for the PC and Deathwing coming out for consoles and PC.

Storm of vengeance was terrible, Carnage was pretty meh, Space Wolf is an okay game if you can just get behind the wall of the 2nd campaign and it is possible to do without paying for bundles and upgrades. Drop Assault is quite a useful timesink when you're stuck on a 2 hour train ride and you're bored to tears.

truth be told, they had the same problems with dawn of war 2's expansions anyways. It's the main reason I still have the original dawn of war platinum collection sitting on my desk as we speak. I personally don't believe relic is capable of ever making anything as great as the original dawn of war (or homeworld or company of heroes for that matter) because REAL game development is a rarity these days. Also, I doubt much of the failure of 40k has to do with investors and more to do with games workshop trying to cash in on the gullible mobile gamers with massive amounts of disposable income.

I get that they were burned with the whole THQ issue and they have the IP's best interests at heart (right next to their undying lust for currency) but it's quite obvious they don't want to see their IP become anything more than a moneymaker when it comes to the video gaming scene. Because let's face it, if they really wanted to make shit tons of money (and people who love the TT happy), they would have taken my idea of just PORTING the tabletop over into a free to play game where you buy squads of units in the exact same way you would buy units from their online store and fight against other players just like in tabletop. (think the exact same interface and client as league of legends, but instead of selling a champion for X IP/RP its a tactical marine squad). That way we can have a solid PC game, use a halfways decent engine to have realistic models (similar to what regicide is doing) and you can make millions of dollars off of creating a squad of tactical marines one time, as opposed to 3d printing thousands of them to sell in boxes. This needs to happen sooner rather than later before the exploding advancements in 3D printing technology puts them out of business.

Also, the public consensus seems to agree that all of the current mobile games have been lacking. I have yet to play Drop Assault but have heard good things. HOWEVER, creating a sea of garbage for 40k fans to wade through to find one halfways decent game is not what GW should be doing.

Unfortunately most of the staff that work in the Dawn of War series and Space Marine was layoff little before THQ close. I don't know if Relic has the skill to make another DoW.

    ...And you bash it?

Well, I can't blame you. When the game was announced I was also outraged that the most solemn conflict on my favourite universe was parodied in a lowly casual game for mobiles. HOWEVER, I've got my hands on it, and believe me they've tried SO HARD to make a good game and respect the lore, to which I take my hat off. I've played many "Clash of clans clones" and I can tell you this game is not one of them.

almost anything on a mobile device is currently unworthy to be called a game (there are some rare gems but they're 1 in a million). There's a reason that almost 90% of games on mobile devices are called cowclickers. Also, in a world where consoles and PCs are striving to make massive games with the best graphics, consoles with the best parts, all while maintaining either a core design philosophy or attempting to expand and innovate on gaming, mobile gaming is just a tremendous waste of effort until some more advances come into play and innovation is made in terms of controls. So yes, I'll bash the everliving hell out of anything put on a 6 inch screen designed to milk money out of people who have nothing better to do but lay in bed and swipe their index finger across a phone. Maybe I'm just too old to understand the appeal or something, not sure.

And to top it all off, WHY did it need to be a mobile game to begin with? there are so many design limitations and technical hurdles to jump over that would not have been necessary even for a console game. Just a tremendous waste of a good idea when a vastly superior game could have been put on PC with less effort. A prime example is in one of the dev diaries about designing the environment they had to be much more aware of what they were doing because of how small of a screen they were working with and that a lot of stuff had to be toned down or tossed out because they couldn't get too fancy.

As I said before, I'm not saying its a terrible game, more that I hate that games workshop is exploring the mobile scene just to entice people to buy into the tabletop or are trying to cash in on the massive cash cow that is "mobile gaming" (when in reality it's all just a bunch of clever businessmen scheming to steal teenager lunch money) when real hardcore 40k fans would be better off with a bigger game with more meat and bones (like eternal crusade or the dawn of war series).

Also, please point out where I bashed the game? don't pick out parts of a post just for the sake of arguing because someone has a differing opinion to yours.

How about back to topic guys? There is a 'Other GW Licensees' Sub-Forum to talk about other games which are not EC, thank you!

Perhaps behaviour should find where these guys are and offer them a job......well at least some of them :) As for games workshop well it's clear that they have succumbed to the corrupting influence of chaos.

Oh lawd. Not chaos! Can we purge them? Is it even possible?!?:p

armageddon developer tell that GW don't want to port TT to videogame, they must create new rules. ans they're right.
look at space hulk (the digital tabletop version): translate tabletop rule on a videogame is a terrible idea: for be fun you need a real friend on a tabletop with real miniature.
space hulk ascension instead is a really fun game: because use rules for a videogame.

2D printer don't killed book, and 3D printer is not a bigger problem than recaster and similar. (and gw can think to sell 3d printersand the files for print miniature)
