  2. I'm not as well versed on Ultramarines lore as many of you, so I'm really confused why so many people are bringing up Uriel Ventris. What is so special about him? I don't have anything against the guy, but up against Abaddon and a Phoenix Lord, having the Space Marine faction led by a mere captain of fourth company seems like a giant mismatch. Fourth company? Really?

because ivan have excluded any option different than a captain
  4. Did you read the ultra marine novels with Uriel Ventril?
He might be a captain of the fourth company he is still a captain :p
    And archived great things.

He served in the deathwatch and you know only great adeptus go there.
He and his team almost brought down a C'tan shard.
Defended a world from a tyranid hive fleet tendril.

    To name some things :p
  5. Basically Uriel Ventris is the only Ultramarine who doesn't come across as close-minded about everything or Mary-sue. Graham McNeill has created an Ultramarine who uses the codex as Guilliman intended, thus making Ventris greater than any other Ultrasmurf automatically.

Imo, not at All. A Codex adherent chapter, that's semi-focused on a specific path down that Codex. CQC.
Each Chapter fights in each their way, regardless of Codex adherent or not. Either being very stubborn in combat, "sneaky" in combat or relentless, imo they all fight in various ways, despite tactical dogma norm.

Dismiss Salamanders as Green Ultramarines as you wish, I don't agree. Don't think they just "Happen to favour close quarters," No. Viewing them like this, would justify Imperial Fists "happening" to know Siege Warfare.

You miss the fact that when you compare Salamanders and Imperial Fists, many first think that Salamanders has more flavour, due to their armor choice and apparent armor modifications. Dragon Helmets, FireDrake skin and such. When you look at that, the first thought is "Wow, they must have some flavour, compared to those. Because they're normal right?" Now that's the wrong assumption that many do, Imperial Fists Has alot of flavour.
They're not Yellow Ultramarines, they've focused on a role that greatly supports their proud nature. Two components which play together as smooth as it could be. They're even the masters at what they do best.

You can't blame people for that, categorizing them like that. To the naked eye, Salamanders seem alot more "Exotic" which is due to their bling. That happens since if you search up Salamanders, you'll see Firedrake Hide as capes and belts, Firedrake Jaws as Neckguards, Symbolic fire that marks them all across their armor. If you search up Imperial Fists, you see "Normal" yellow Astartes with Roman themes here and there. You see where I'm coming from?

  8. Nice try but when the Space Marines fifth faction vote and their faction leader are in the twitch the fans will descend on this thread like a ton of bricks.

  9. IMO most Ultramarines use the Codex the way Ventris does. Common sense is common sense, regardless of what 1 or 2 authors may believe. :)
