Simply amazing, cannot wait to see the Vampire Counts. Well it might be fun for you, for people like me who wanted to play the Kurgans or Norscans its a let down. Especially considering the potential for innumerable warlords from both.
Yeah, that's why they said that cavalry vs cavalry impacts are still WIP. I mean, it's being released in 2016, give them that at least... anyway, nah, this is going to be the gudd wun, cause they always alternated good title>bad title>good title and so on. Now, considering rome2 at release was a bad one... we can hope, right?
My fear is that this may be an inherent problem of the game engine, so there'd be just no way to fix it without changing it. But it's also true that it's too soon to judge, so... yeah, we can hope! EDIT: And BTW, at 4:15 it's cavalry vs infantry, and they're not even pikemen.
Look at what the trolls and the arachnarok do, the prolonged combat between the empire troops and the boyz also looks pretty good. They did say that they're still working on the impact stuff, especially cav vs cav.
Having seen GW's recent plans for Warhammer Fantasy, and the unabridged glory that are the Sigmarines and the Age of Sigmar, I think it's safe to say that at least for me the real 9th edition of Warhammer Fantasy will be done by CA and Sega in 2016 for PC only. It will also cost me far less compared to tabletop, and I say this knowing far too well how much DLC-milking will follow the coming of TW: Warhammer. Seriously through, I like what I see here. There are still some flaws like those faulty unit collisions (that Boar charge was particularly painful to watch, good thing that the devs want to focus on this problem), but overall the trailer is awesome and it looks like CA is putting a lot of effort and research in this game. I wasn't even expecting to see stuff like the Luminark and the arachnarok to appear in the game! And I seriously subscribe to the idea that this game is the actual 9th Edition of Fantasy. Screw Sigmarines and screw whatever thing they did to Slaanesh.
It's ironic that people expect dramatic cavalry impacts, since that really isn't how things went down in the real world. Horses can not just run into things at high speed. Nor can a mounted soldier expect to fight well against a horde of foot soldiers if his horse is standing still. Light cavalary (Roman) would charge in, stick their spears in, and then gtfo. Hit and run. Armored men at arms (the bulk of medieval European cavalry were not knights) would charge in with their lances and then dismount and fight on foot. Napoleonic and later cavalry would charge across the enemy's line with their sabres/lances and sort of continue to circle, staying constantly in motion. In none of those instances would you ever get impactful cavalry charges ala Pete Jackson's LotR trilogy.
Well from my experience and judging by CA as a company as a whole and their interactions with the community tends to boil down to whatever is their current mo. Which at this point in time is an obsession with making things look cinematic. It is also something which gets the approval of their most vocal fan base, which is usually the people they listen to.
