You know, the guy who we should really fire is the one who has a hate-boner for the Tyranids whose last name sounds like "crud" or something. Robin Cruddance, isn't it? Something like that.
The best way to get rid of that shit while still going with the prestige of the Ultramarines is the same I did.... Take a Successor Chapter It's Ultramarine with another name and most of them are so unknown you can write your own lore about them / extend on the little details that are known about them (exactly what I do with the Sons of Guilliman)
In any other media such a wide spread opinion on a writer would of at least garnered an explanation or excuse from somebody about this by now. But we hear absolutely nothing and they continue to give people what they don't want who does that?
I can't just leave them. I still like them at any cost. It would be treason. If i have to write walls of text to make people understand, so be it!
I like them too, but I also figured that you cannot do much with Ultramarines lore-wise.... or custom-wise. They are too established. And everything would always result in: Calgar can save the day. Too boring, prefer making my own chars and own history of events and what not.
Personally, I just make my entirely new Homebrew creations. Like, for example, my Eldar Craftworld of Keuartoc or my Astartes-chapter of The Sons of Stone.
I did that too at the start, but tbh if you look into the lore and known info of 'The Sons of Guilliman' you will quickly learn it is like making a new chapter
What I mean is I know ppl are mad at him but the game grew... and its still full of cool fluff. REALLY full. Quite frankly its not that bad and the astartes did need a poster chapter.
The Ultramarines were the poster chapter before Matt Ward...... Since Chaos Gate which I believe released 1993 or so. Already from then on, on all posters and so on the Ultramarines were the big big big poster guys. You look for Space Marines? First thing you find: Ultramarines also the most stories, etc. always Ultras.
Yes but one of the main gripes against him is his ultramarine favortism. I like it. Consider that over tome other chapters get fleshed out as a result of this favortism. I'm on the phone client so sorry for brevity
