To Sail Amid The Seas Of Fate - Jorimel's Eldar Rp

  1. @kanila & Others| "I think it shall, once we're all rested." Gods willing. Astarielle didn't say her prayer out loud, inside using the eating of her meal to provide an excuse for her falling silent. She sighed softly when, upon looking around, noticing that Amriel had fallen asleep and prepared to stand, although that was as far as she got. "I shall take first watch, unless another would like to?"

Smiling slightly, Talshin threw a rock off into the dark of the night before replying, "Believe it or not, I am not here because I want to be. I was forced on a 'pilgrimage' by the elders on Ulthwé. So in other words, exile. And that is not due to something that happened in combat, quite the opposite in fact. I lost touch with others all together. Even those of my shrine. I had always viewed socialization as a unnecessary trait for a warrior, but I suppose there are things to be learned through interaction with others. At any rate, I can relate to the longing for more out of life than the call of war."

    'I wanted to be lost'
Alo thought to himself as Talshin spoke, he never had gotten along with anyone for an extended period of time. He let silence dominate for a moment, giving himself time to think. Alo hated it. He didn't like quiet moments or talk of personal matters.

"Did you ever bash your kinsman on the head with a flute because they said you are playing off-key? We are not alike."
He spat the words out with venom.
"You want to interact, better do it with the more timid crowd."

"Again, you assume much and hear little. I have asked nothing of you, only made an observation and a relation to your current situation, that does not make us alike. The birds here breath air and so do you, yet I do not see you pouting to them about how you are not alike. However, I am learning that you simply wish to be left alone," Talshin said as he stood up. He then laughed slightly as he continued, "And as for your story about some flute and being corrected for a mistake, you will find no pity here. A warrior has pity for children whom never get to grow up to an adult, not a musician whom needs to learn how to better play their flute. You seem to think though, that you words will have no affect on your outcome, and that I can assure you that is far from true. Not only do you distance yourself, but now you lash out at those around you. You will reap what you sow, but do not think of what I say as a physical threat, for you would be wrong...again. Those around you will remeber what you say and how you act, and when a time comes that you are in need and call out for help. Your words will fall upon deaf ears, for they have grown cold towards you." Talshin dropped all the rocks from his hand, grabbed his helm, and placed it on his head before speaking, "That is just my opinion, however; and what would someone like me know..." With that said, Talshin moved back over towards the shadows of the ship and resumed his watch.

As the Eldar at the fireside spoke of watches and even - in one case - started to sleep, Avrielle finished handing out food to those that wanted it. Talis' advice worked well and the food was appetizing. Not at all bad for something that was wriggling around the rocks mere hours ago. She took care to leave some for everyone. but it seemed that not everyone wanted the gifts of Isha. The little radiotech took no offence, but did wrap up some of the cooked meat for later in some leaves that Talis pointed out - quietly, in tones only she would hear - would keep it from getting dry and tough in the heat of the stone hearth.

As she did so, and placed the last of the parcels carefully not too close to the flames, the small white form of Llyr trotted out of the shuttlecraft. Bypassing Iktomi, he made a determined beeline for the fire pit and, before Avrielle could stop him, he had dragged down one of the packages.

"Llyr! -" she said, not really knowing how or even if she should shout at the gyrinx. But Llyr was not opening the food to get at the tasty lizard meat inside. Instead, he fastened his teeth on one of the corners and began to pull it along, back in the direction of the ship. Getting up quite a respectable pace, he took the unwieldy form of the improvised meal inside for his companion. Morvan, Llyr had decided, needed to keep his strength up if he was to do the work of a Seer.

Nonplussed, Avrielle watched the gyrinx collect food for his friend, staring after him for a moment. Then she shook her head, and turned back to the fire.

"If we are to rest, then we would be better to do so inside the shuttle," she suggested. "Even if we do not fear attack, at least then we will be free of being rained upon." Indeed, the blue sky was clouding, the sun disappearing behind grey clouds now as often as it shone clear.

"There isn't a bed for everyone, but it is warmer than, well, a rock." She paused.

"You, too, the two of you," she said to Alo and Artarsi, "we'll make room for you." Avrielle did not consult everyone, which in Yareli's opinion would be a sign of increased confidence. Or possibly, the maiden was tired of arguments and not feeling in the mood to be denied. As she knew Avrielle, it was probably the former.

"I will keep you company, perhaps entertain you with a song or two?" Yareli said after regrouping when Avrielle started to put the food parcels together, she had taken a little piece before her friend put them away, but not much. For the greater of the group they needed to have more energy than a non-warrior. She couldn't help but smile when she also invited the two distant strangers to their misfit group. That was the way of the corsairs.

Without further word, the Noblewoman settled near Astarielle, apparently having kind of becoming addicted to the frosty winds the world had to offer. "Not quite like the gardens of your home, but much like the winter domes of mine."

Yareli focused on individual interactions because she was not concerned with the group dynamic. The Warriors eventually would settle in, just like her noble blood has settled with the commoners. Then again, it was much easier to relate as a fellow Eldar than between a civilian and a warrior. Earlier or later surely Amriel's self control would rub off on the Dire Avengers.

Alo took Talshins words in bitterness. He was living in denial and it had started to come clear to him as well as of late. He let anger override his reason, he talked without thinking it through first and he had no idea how to control it.
It's better this way. Alo though to himself first as he watched Talshin walk away. Since he doesn't bring nothing to others but misery he would wallow in it himself, alone. Talshin had started a seed of doubt in him however and as he was left to his own thoughts he started to regret recent events.
Perhaps there was merit in others. He fell into deep thought again, inner conflicts making him uneasy.
  8. @Uriel1339 | "As you wish." Astarielle finished her meal as Yareli spoke, looking over at the noblewoman when the Mymearan settled. She declined to fully respond to the comment about the enviroment, instead replying with a non-committal hum, and turned her attention to the stars, indulging herself in childish fantasy by making up patterns and shapes. "Tell me of the songs of your craftworld."

"With delight, Astarielle." Yareli said with a smile as her hands disappeared into the insides of her robe, fiddling around until at last the prize is found. A matt sky blue Ocarina was drawn forth, simple in material but well treated in craft. It was in contrast to the Noblewoman quite plain. It bore nothing but a single, tiny name rune, but it was not that of Yareli's. Instead it read 'Delshandra'. It was a twelve hole Ocarina and going sideways, compared to eight hole whistle Ocarinas which were more tear-shaped, compared to her own flute.

"A lot of songs of Mymeara are of tragedy or lullaby's, considering the mood of the group and the night time, I suppose a lullaby would be quite fitting to put the rest of the crew to bed, yes?" The Noblewoman smiled though for possibly the first time anyone, even Iktomi, might have seen nervousness in the sapphire eyes of hers. She took a deep breath and grabbed the Ocarina tightly in her hands, with a slight shaking of her hands - but not from the cold. Her lips pressed against the mouthpiece and the first note started to ring in the air, audible in the silent night for the many around to hear.

The soft, high tones of the Ocarina rang in the air, travelling near and far as the wind carried the song. Luckily it was more of the regular seaside breeze rather than an actual strong wind so the song would not be convoluted in the sounds of nature. Though with every additional note played, it seemed the woman would relax, though she remained firmly seated and her eyes closed. Nothing mattered but the peaceful tune she produced. It was not perfect like that of a true Eldar musician, but it was far from sounding bad. One might even pick up the personal attachment to the song of how passionately she played the lower tones which were to imitate the soothing voice like Isha to her children after they could hear her once more after Vaul produced the tears for the mother of all Eldar.

The song was just a bit over a minute as it was intentionally made to be a repetitive tune that could be played in a loop until all children were soothed. She went twice through the song, if it was more for the ears of Alo or her own, only the musician would know.

But like all good things, it had to come to an end, too. Slowly she put the ocarina in her lap with one hand, the other drying her eyes which were strongly fighting with tears. Memories having been far too overwhelming, but still she could not help but smile widely at Astarielle next to her. Saying nothing, as the music had spoken in her stead.

"Self-righteous morons all of them. They don't know what I have to go thro-" Alos' thoughts stopped the instant he heard the ocarina. With wide eyes he listened, all disruptive thoughts dispelled from his mind. It was a very simple song, his skill could easily mimic it with a small range of instruments. Still he recognized the soul in it. How he has missed the beauty of melody brought him near tears. He was shocked by his own reaction, wiping a singular tear from his cheek.
It had been too long since he last heard or played music, and he had near forgotten it's soothing power.

Alo stood up and walked slowly to the campfire. He knelt beside Yariel and looked straight into her eyes, half of his own face covered by his dark blonde hair.
"I...I had forgotten, I mean.." He paused and struggled with words shifting his gaze to the fire. "I am sorry, everyone. I am not...whole."
After his words he walked away and dropped his helmet to the ground as he turned, his snow-white cape trailing behind him. He felt shame and twisted his fingers a bit to feel pain while his back was turned toward the others.

Alo took distance from the others again. This was a rare moment where he didn't feel like fighting and he was grateful, to his own surprise.
