Faenkon emerged from the undergrowth and returned to the campfire side. "They look good, any news from the ship?" He proceeded to grab a sampling of everything on offer and began eating. They would need to start heading out again soon, but for now they could atleast have a hot meal to raise everyone's spirits. "Any else interesting happen in our absence?"
Alo sat still. He waited for Yareli to walk away before settling to his thoughts. With a deep sigh he straightened his back and closed his eyes, legs crossed. His throat cut throbbed in pain, he focused on it. Alo considered all pain to be purifying and did not shy away from it, often he welcomed it. These thoughts he kept to himself, somewhat shameful. Alos' expression was blank but inside his mind he was boiling. He wanted to shout and lash in anger, he needed to act, to fight...something! All that raw emotion he pushed away with pain, it was a price he had to pay. He turned his head enough to make the wound hurt a bit more and then settled it back straight again. After the pain had lessened Alo went through the familiar calming routines as well that Salianna had taught, so he would not be utterly disgusted by hes own secret perversion. He reminded himself of who he was and what he fought for. Still a question lingered, aching for an answer: What is my fate? After several minutes of silence he opened his eyes letting the outside world fill his senses again. Alo missed music, he filled his spare moments with it when he could. He waited for events to transpire, Alo had shuffled everything already and wanted to let everyone get their senses back now that he wasn't on edge anymore. He only stared at the water, enjoying his rare calm moment.
@kanila | Seeing Avrielle hand food to Lysandriax, as well as Faenkon taking some, Astarielle reached out to secure some for herself, shifting into a comfortable position at the same time. Now reclining on her side, propped up by an arm, the woman carefully took a bite of the wildfowl meat. It was nothing like the field rations issued while on campaign and equally nothing like the food grown on a craftworld. Turning her head slightly as she swallowed Astarielle regarded Faenkon before glancing around the campsite. "The new arrivals introduced themselves. Words were had and actions made. Questions have been raised."
Amriel had taken and devoured his food without much ceremony, a mere nod of thanks to the Exodite for catching and preparing it was all he gave. Food was just as important as combat ability to trained soldiers, and the ability for someone to catch and prepare the food well was rare amongst the people he tended to travel with. With his hunger sated and his thirst slaked, Amriel decided it would be safe for him to catch some sleep. There was plenty of people around to keep watch, and this would allow him to be more awake when his watch time came up. Amriel settled in, with his back propped up against a tree and his fusion gun held firmly in his lap, and dozed off nearly immediately, a trait he shared with the professional soldiers of nearly every other race in the galaxy.
@Avenging-Angel @BadDo9 "It would seem so, you can almost feel the tension in the air. I'm sure it will all pass soon though." He patted Talis on the shoulder in an attempt to help calm the young exodite's nerves.
@Wata Emerging from the shadows of the ship, finally, Talshin moved next to the fire and took a kneenear Alo. After a moment of staring at the flames dance a moment, he took off his helm and set it on the ground, revealing his jet black hair, yellow eyes, and smooth, pale skin. Talshin ran his hands through his hair and tightened his ponytail, before looking to Alo and speaking in a very calm voice, "You look like one whom is all to familiar war. I can attest to such awkward feelings of interaction with others who are slightly less familiar."
Yareli still remained at the very edge of the camp. Her work was done, and she would make sure Alo would apologize - at some point. He promised, and it was especially Nobles who took such oaths serious. Her right hand moved to her chin and the left hand held her right elbow. Those sapphire-blue eyes of hers staring into the sky. Finally her own heart started to relax and the presence of Khaine seemed to subside... For now. At war, she already worried they might have to keep a close eye on Alo. His behavior was suicidal and losing a Khaine's digit is the last thing they needed in the mission for this rather important recovery mission. She closed her eyes to clear her mind. Letting the cold temperature trigger her memories, carrying her back home to Mymeara for a moment.
@matt23 Alo kept his gaze on the lake. He let silence fill the space between them for a moment. With a heavy sigh he gave his reply. "You believe we share something then?" Alo looked at Talshin. "War is our art. Peaceful folk have a hard time understanding its artists." He laid back, flat on his back, eyes to the sky. "But I've always been more akin to a sledgehammer rather than a delicate chisel, in every way." Alo touched his throat with a finger and inspected his own blood. "I suppose you saw everything that transpired upon our arrival and for some reason did not intervene, why?"
Talshin looked up towards the night sky a moment before answering, "To say my social skills are lacking would be putting it modestly. So in all honesty, I would not have had the slightest clue of what to say to calm either of you, nor did I, at the time, know either of your relationship to each other. However, looking back, perhaps I should have, but that could have started a whole new conflict in the heat of the moment." He then picked up a few stones, tossing some aside and keeping others as if he looked for a specific one. "So whether we share something or not, I have not a clue. I merely spoke to that look in your eyes, they reminded me of the moments in which all I can think about was war. The passion and longing for it that, at times, feels overwhelming and distracting from the present."
Alo nodded slightly. "I know of what you speak." he said quietly. "My soul is longing for something else, however." he continued with the same quiet voice. He soon realized he had said that out loud and immediately regretted it. He cursed himself and turned to his side, back toward Talshin.
