"Or what?" Lysandriax let the words hang in the air for just long enough that one might swear a slight frost had formed. Then she grinned, throwing back her head in wild yet not at all malicious laughter. "If you had ever met Sliscus, the so-called Duke, I assure you your opinion would not be improved one bit!" She shook her head and looked at Alo. "So. Why do they call you Winterheart? What does it take to melt such ice?"
< @Jorimel @kanila > Talis had visibly winced - a motion that Faenkon would have felt - when the ranger laid his hand upon the Exodite's shoulder. As much as he wanted to believe Avrielle, as much as he wanted to trust the others, he just couldn't let himself out of the shell. He would have stayed at the fire if it wasn't for a few various fears that crossed through his mind. With a silent sigh he stood, and gave Avrielle the slightest glance that betrayed him before Talis hardend himself again and spun to follow Faenkon into the trees. No words were given to anyone.
@Wata | Astarielle frowned as the little radiotech spoke of the two new Aspect Warriors, turning slightly to watch them. Most likely it was down to upbringing but the idea of disrespecting Exodites sat ill with her, prompting her to move despite her misgivings. Moving away from Avrielle and heading for the nearest of the Dire Avengers Astarielle raised her voice and called out to Alo. "I understand you made quite an impression when you arrived. Care to explain yourself?"
@Jorimel @Avenging-Angel Alo hated the Dark Eldar. All his dealings with them had been repulsive. Lysandriax however, this was something else. He developed a small grin at her laugh and manner. He was about to answer her before Astarielle interrupted him. He saw how Talis was walking away and shifted his gaze back at Astarielle. "I am at fault for the primitives mood. He doesn't have a fighters' spirit. I questioned his purpose here." Alo shifted his weight on his legs, resting a hand on his sword hilt. "I assume you are about to preach manners at me." His tone was dismissive.
@BadDo9 Once they were well and clear of the rest of the group he turned and watched Talis. "Something happened while we were gone, even someone who is blind can see that. I will not talk about that unless you choose to." He turned away and watched the forest around them. He wasn't concerned that someone was there, he just wanted to enjoy the quiet. Without turning back to look at Talis, "Some conversations happened while we were away...." Finally turning to face him he continued. "Would you be interested in joining the next scouting party? Your knowledge of plants and animals would be a great boon to discovering this planet's secrets." He turned away once more and breathed the crisp air in deeply, slowly exhaling before he continued. "The choice is yours, and no one will force you to go. And, if you so choose, I can teach you some of the ways of the Ranger path." He turned back again giving Talis a warm encouraging smile, "Besides I already owe Avierelle lessons as well. Like I said, the choice is yours, don't worry about offending me with your choice."
< @kanila > From the moment they entered the trees, Talis refused to look at Faenkon. It wasn't out of spite. It was of shame. A shame that grew with every word that was said - every word that mingled with those of Alo and his own fears. And dispite all efforts, the young male's emotions spilled over. "You don't need me." he said quietly, although the ranger would easily hear. "Why would you need me? You have your fancy paths and weapons. All I am is a... primitive savage." he spat out those words as if they were a taste of terrible food, the linger of which wouldn't leave his tongue. "You needn't patronize me with what a help I could be. Any one of you could do everything I try and do, I'm sure - I would likely be the death of you all before any kind of boon." he still would not look up, his eyes spilling over with held back tears.
@Wata | "I won't deliberately preach about manners but yes I'm going to preach." Removing the gauntlets of her armour Astarielle indicated first her Biel-tani and then Banshee runic tattoos. "I'm hoping you recognize these. The sigil on the left means I've been raised to defend Exodites. The sigil on the right means I've been in the Swordwind and can defend them." Stepping right up to the dismissive warrior, drawing herself to her full height, Astarielle scowled down(?) at Alo. "That 'primitive', as you call him, is part of our race's future. And unless you're secretly a Ranger he's way more useful to us than you are."
@BadDo9 "Primative savage? What is this talk all about? What I said I meant, and just because we have Paths and weapons doesn't make us better. No one here is better than anyone else. Yes some are better at some things than others. Please calm down and relax."
@kanila Talis quickly rose an arm to wipe off his tears, as futile a gesture it turned out to be. "Why don't you go ask your civilized breatheren what this is about." he gave with a biting tone in his voice borne from pain. "I can't fight nearly as well as you would like.. I have skills you don't need or already have. I.." now that he was speaking, Talis was at least able to think now, and was distracted by a birdsong. He looked around and watched the singing bird for a while, mind at least now open to listen
@BadDo9 Sitting down beneath a tree he leaned back trying to relax. "You are walking a dangerous line young one. I'm trying to help. Not all Eldar share the same views, and I am not one to judge others." He sighed deeply closing his eyes. "I am just trying to help you in a foreign and sometimes unforgiving world. Because our way of life is foreign to you just as yours is foreign to us." He stretched out placing his hands behind his head as he reclined. Looking back to Talis, "I will talk to them, just as I'm sure others will as well. If you wish us to. Just don't attack someone who is only trying to help."
