< @Jorimel @kanila and all others > Talis held himself steady as he felt, and basically landed, with the ship. After a moment he stood, and the doors opened. The brisk chill made the Exodite shiver in glee, as he hadn't felt anything like it since he had left his home. He didn't need much, and in a single practised motion he took a light jacket-cloak out of his pack, donned it, and then again secured his pack. He was enamored with the waterfowl and then, as well, the Pterodactyls. "I would recommend not trying to harm those." he said, pointing up at them. "Could very well have some significance to the Eldar here.. like the Peak-wolves on my own home." At the Ranger's question he grinned and set off a bit to look at the plants. Journal and pencil was out, sketching what he saw and making comparisons. After about ten minutes, and leaving sight a few times Talis had a green fruit, shaped like a gourd with soft (Non-pokey) spikes, a leafy vegetable that grew singly and looked somewhat like a leek, and a bunch of grape-like fruit. "I can't vouch for taste, but these would be edible, probably healthy as well," he chirped, looking around to see how he did
Amriel took a single step out, rifle at the ready, but a lack of viable opponents was immediately apparent. Agents of Chaos were insidious, brilliant foes, but even they were highly unlikely to use waterfowl, and certainly their taint would be felt here. The lack of cover was concerning, and Amriel didn't particularly care for the thought of setting up an exposed camp in unknown territory. "Should we fortify a small area around the shuttle? At the very least figure out sentry schedule and such?"
@MetalDog4 | Astarielle scrambled from the craft, alarmed by the cavalier way the Felarch flew, and took in the lakeside, breathing deep of the natural air. She took note of Talis' words, and that which he pointed out, before moving so that she could gaze out over the lake itself. Nothing seemed a threat but then again, if the ruins were any indication something had forced the eldar from the region. "A sentry would be good, although on the surface at least this world doesn't seem to be a bad place to be stranded on."
~~ Landing ~~ Yareli held herself on her seat as the craft went in a maneuver like Iktomi fought, reminding her much of the duel of his with Lord Serontine. The riskier and the more dangerous it looked, the more likely it was to happen with this kind of Felarch. Not wanting to bounce around in the ship, she held on with all of her might on her seat, managing to stay in it, even though she bumped slightly into Talis. ~~ After Landing ~~ @Jorimel "Coats? This is but mere a refreshing breeze!" Yareli grinned as the cold air made it inside. Of course it was cold, even for her who was used to the ice domes, but it could be far worse and without having a proven record of the weather of this world it was hard to tell whether this was as harsh as it would get, or the pleasant temperatures. She remained in her seat, waiting for Iktomi to get to the rear. @kanila | @BadDo9 | @MetalDog4 | @Avenging-Angel The Noblewoman observed the others at work, such was the way of the survivors and warriors. Always anticipating an assault. She herself would act reserved until there would be interest of conflict amongst their group, or an interaction with sociable foreigners. Until then, she would walk at the side of Iktomi and make sure of his well-being on behalf of the Arcadians.
Lysandriax glanced at the two warriors as they suggested setting up a guard. "I concur," she said, "but I think that our explorers may have breached the defensive perimeter." She nodded in the direction of Talis, already kneeling and harvesting some edible local plants. "At least we shall not go hungry," Avrielle said, beaming up at the tall warriors. "It is cold, though - or at least, I think so - "she smiled at Yareli, "do you think that we will be safe enough to have a fire?" She glanced back at the Chance. The small scoutship did not have beds for all, but there was at least room for everyone to sleep inside, which should be warm enough. Of course, it was early in Mirienh's day, and plenty of daylight remained for exploration. And moving away into the terrain would probably not allow the use of the ship as a base. Llyr wriggled behind some reeds and kept low, hiding as much of his brilliantly white fur in the foliage in the hope of confounding the sharp eyes of the local wildlife. It was fair to say, in the competent assessment of the Rangers, that his furry posterior was unfortunately highly visible. As some of the group busied themselves with getting food and making the perimeter secure, Faenkon's drone picked up high levels of metals in the local rocks. Deposits of minerals much prized by civilisations that still used metals as a major component of their industry. @Uriel1339 @kanila @MetalDog4 @DaKaptin @BadDo9 @Avenging-Angel @High_Adept_Zeth @matt23 @Valonox
@Jorimel & @BadDo9 "Fire? Hm... If the wood is dry and burns easily we might be able to. But it might be counter-intuitive, due to the smoke we would create. On the other hand, it might be perhaps a good way to have the locals find us." Yareli smirked as an idea grew and she rose from her seat, walking to the ramp, but still remaining in the craft, yelling over to Talis "You do not happen to know smoke signal language, from your home, do you?" @kanila @MetalDog4 @DaKaptin @BadDo9 @Avenging-Angel @High_Adept_Zeth @matt23 @Valonox Noticing the temperature stronger now that she was close to the exit, she had somewhat of a worried look. "We should spend the night definitely within the chance. Until we can find a settlement, or a cave which may harbor us. If we were as far as two hundred feet and a snowstorm would rise, we could get lost alone." She warned, looking into the unknown distance of Mirienh. It was not a very inviting planet, which made it so much more ideal for Exodites and their harsh, self-imposed difficulties of life. Were they to meet them, the only way to succeed in their quest would be with their help. If the Sword of Eldanesh was to be found here, it would be easily out of reach just by sitting at the bottom of their very lake.
< @Uriel1339 and others > Talis was still waiting for an assessment of the food he had found. He figured that he had a gourd or fruit for side or sugars, berries for that too and a veggie to use with meat. He also felt confident that he could find more if they wanted, and different varieties if he searched farther. Although at Yareli's question, he looked up to her and thought a moment, pausing as his thought train redirected. "The hunters trained me in that and other important skills after.." he chuckled a bit. "I got lost once. I think there's enough dropped wood to make a decent, controlled fire... it seemed dry."
@BadDo9 "Very nice find. It's great that we can use this local food over our ration packs. You mentioned not to hunt?" Meat would definitely make this a complete meal. But if this was to be a diplomatic meeting they could risk hostilities over a fresh meal. As the drone returned and he was able to view the data he nodded towards Iktomi, "Show him that data, I think he may find it useful." At that the drone quickly zoomed over to the Felarch to show him the data about the minerals. Who knows how much trade they did with the more primitive races. This could expand their fortunes, if the time and effort was worth it.
With Iktomi`s adventurous take on piloting finally over, Warlock disembarked from the Chance, albeit with not so much gusto as his fur-clad friend. The wind swept up quickly the local fauna and greeted them as strangers upon this lush, new world.Quite chilly, but the short Warlock quickly found sanctuary within his, more then adequate robe. Llyr ran across the grass, knowing him probably in search of a game.At that Morvan did not curb him, for it was obviously dangerous but it was probably the first time gyrinx was on an actual planet. So he released the reins, so to speak, but kept a close eye on him, which was not that very hard. "Do we have contact with Arcadia?" he asked Lysandriax, their de-facto shuttle captain. As the others prepared camp and busied themselves with whatever trivialities governed them and their way of life, Seer looked at the lake, his eyes tracing the shoreline. With not a more word to the others, he donned his white helmet and headed for what appeared to be some sort of ruins. Enjoying the full benefit of having a rune matrice interwoven in the fabric across his robe and helmet, Morvan opened his senses to his immediate surroundings.Artificial places, like construction or places of lodgings long held psyhic traces of living souls, for souls imbed emotion into every single gesture.Only the Craftworlders kept reins on such unchecked and dangerous habit.
After emerging from the Chance, Talshin took a very brief look around the ship. It was clear this would be a horrible place to defend, as they were open to attack from every direction. He began to look around the immediate area to get a feel for their surroundings and where it was they were going to have to hold up. After doing so he returned to the group, "I shall take first watch, if no one has any objections. I have grown tired of being on ships and wish to stretch out is all. Besides, we can not all stay within the ship for the night, as this area is far to open to attack and the temperature does not bother me." Talshin then made a quick adjustment to his Chainsword on his hip, to ensure it sat correctly. He then continued, "If any wish to join in the watch, they are welcome. Just ensure everyone gets some form of rest." He then looked around once more, the thought of how bad of a place this was to defend crossed his mind again, however; he quickly shook it out as he knew that regardless of his feelings on the matter, it had to be done."
